Summary:
HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Senior Manager, Employer Brand. The Senior Manager of Employer Brand will shape how employees and prospective talent experience the HII brand. You will lead the next evolution of workforce engagement — Employee Engagement 2.0 — using modern, creative, and immersive approaches that reach all employees, including those who are deskless, deployed, or embedded at customer sites.
This role blends employer brand strategy, internal communications, and experience design to build pride, reinforce culture, and help employees understand their impact on national security. You’ll partner closely with leadership, HR, Communications, and Mission Technologies teams to deliver clear, consistent, and inspiring messaging that elevates the employee experience and strengthens HII’s reputation as an employer of choice. This position supports a hybrid work schedule based out of our McLean, VA office.
What You Will Do:
Employer Brand Strategy
- Define and evolve the employer value proposition to reflect the voice, aspirations, and experiences of our workforce.
- Develop and execute a high‑impact employee engagement model that uses fresh, modern, and creative approaches to connect employees to HII’s mission and culture.
- Create brand‑driven employee experiences such as interactive digital campaigns, immersive storytelling, micro‑content series, culture activations, and mission‑moment spotlights.
- Strengthen internal storytelling by highlighting teams, innovations, and real‑world mission outcomes that resonate with employees.
- Introduce new engagement formats including short‑form video, behind‑the‑scenes content, employee‑generated stories, live digital events, and experiential moments.
- Design engagement strategies for deskless and customer‑site employees using mobile‑first content, on‑site activations, QR‑enabled experiences, and communication channels tailored to their work environments.
- Build community and connection through creative programs that celebrate people, milestones, innovation, and impact.
Internal Communications Leadership
- Partner with HII leadership and functional teams to shape and streamline employee communications across all internal channels and platforms.
- Enhance and develop communication channels and content to improve reach, relevance, and employee connection.
- Ensure communication access for all employees including those without regular computer access or working in secure or customer‑owned environments.
Talent Brand & Recruitment Marketing
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to strengthen HII’s talent brand and attract high‑quality candidates.
- Develop talent‑focused content that showcases culture, career growth, and mission impact.
- Ensure alignment between internal and external employer brand to create a seamless employee and candidate experience.
Measurement & Insights
- Establish KPIs and measurement frameworks to evaluate engagement, sentiment, and brand impact.
- Use insights to optimize programs and continuously improve the employee experience.
What We're Looking For:
- 6 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant progressive experience.
- Proven ability to build and execute engagement strategies that strengthen culture and employee connection.
- Strong storytelling, writing, and content development skills.
- Experience partnering with senior leaders and cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to translate complex business priorities into clear, inspiring employee‑focused narratives.
- Data‑driven mindset with experience measuring engagement and brand impact.
- Collaborative, empathetic, and strategic leadership style.
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, HR, or related field.
- 7–10+ years of experience in employer brand, internal communications, employee engagement, or related disciplines.
