Job Description

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) Mission Technologies Warfare Systems partners with the DoD and defense innovation ecosystem to rapidly acquire and field critical and emerging technologies, particularly integrated communications, networking, and Systems-of-Systems (SoS) technologies, to enhance national security and warfighter capabilities. Through a multiagency contracting approach, the Collaborative Operations for Battlespace Resilient Architecture (COBRA) initiative focuses on advancing these technologies to achieve multi-domain battlespace integration and resilient command and control. This includes a broad range of services such as systems engineering, cybersecurity, operational integration, and data analytics, all aimed at modernizing communications and ensuring seamless information exchange for the DoD and its allies.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance in mechanical engineering to design complex mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Supports prototyping, investigating, evaluating, and developing new applications for existing equipment and systems.
  • Determines theoretical principles and applies advanced analytical and investigative methods and techniques.
  • Coordinates fabrication and installation of complex mechanical and related electronic equipment and systems.
  • May direct field operation and maintenance activities of mechanical equipment/systems installations.
  • Evaluates operational systems and designs modification to eliminate causes of malfunctions or changes in system requirements.
  • Develops new applications requiring appreciable originality and ingenuity, and complex test procedures for equipment and systems, which differ from existing designs.
  • Provides technical guidance to personnel involved with producing design fabrication drawings.
  • Reviews and corrects drawings to ensure proper use of engineering techniques and required specifications.
  • Develops, releases, and maintains documentation in accordance with company and contractual requirements.
  • Reviews, writes, and edits reports such as evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals to provide recommendations, conclusions, and other data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 0 years experience with PhD in related field.
  • Must possess an active Secret clearance at the time of application
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Strong understanding of system development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and propose effective solution

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with DoD systems and acquisition lifecycle
  • Proficiency with systems modeling or simulation tools
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
