Huntington Ingalls Industries – Technical Solutions Division (HII-TSD) is seeking a qualified Weapons Director (WD) with recent Ground Control Intercept (GCI) - Controller experience in an operational or training environment. The selected candidate must be capable of providing classroom, academics, and simulator training to U.S. Airforce crew members assigned to the 173rd Fighter Wing, Formal Training Unit (FTU) at Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Develops training curriculum, study outlines, and orientation materials to be employed during procedures, simulation, and/or flight training. Conducts instructional sessions, briefings, follow-ups, and proficiency checks on flight simulators in accordance with federal air regulations and company policies and procedures. Evaluates trainee progress and recommends qualification or additional training. Reviews simulator design and training effectiveness to provide maximum proficiency. Coordinates utilization schedules for training flight crews and necessary engineering support. Background in piloting. Exclude line pilots.

  • Conduct F-15 Simulator Console Operation with Ground Control Intercept communication interface
  • Prepares training materials and instruct GCI Academics in current GCI methodology and terminology for multi-ship/multi-configuration and homeland defense operations
  • Provides Instruction on Air Defense Battle Control Operations in the classroom and simulator
  • Execute the Air Tasking Order (ATO) as directed to meet the specific mission objectives by coordinating and integrating multiple simulator air component operations
  • Integrates with and performs duties as part of the larger HII team
  • Prepares; reviews; and assists in the customization of curriculum lesson plans in support of instructor led classroom academics
  • Conducts formal course reviews for updating curriculum to current capabilities
  • Performs related additional duties as assigned by the SM or DSM.

Minimum Qualifications

6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.

  • The Weapons Director shall be a graduate of a USAF or sister service Weapons Director or Air Battle Manager formal course
  • Minimum of five (5) years providing and instructing Ground Control Intercept (GCI), Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) or simulation and have previous aviation/military experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, completion of high school or general education development (GED) is the minimum
  • Relevant Simulator console operations experience
  • Excellent Verbal and written communications skills
  • All candidates will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and drug screening per HII requirements
  • The position is administered by a CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) between the company and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, AFL-CIO
  • The WD shall require a Secret security Clearance with a background investigation within the past six (6) years.

  • Bachelor's Degree with five (5) year's experience providing and instructing Ground Control Intercept (GCI), Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) or simulation and have previous aviation/military experience

Physical Requirements

Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
