Summary
HII-Mission Technologies is seeking a skilled Senior Network Engineer (Part Time), with a specialty in VPN and IPsec technologies to join our IT Infrastructure Team! The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and optimizing secure network solutions, with a focus on VPN (Virtual Private Networks) and IPsec-based security mechanisms in a hardware and software based application environment. This role will also allow for a remote work schedule. Come join our growing team today!
What you will do
- Deploy and manage IPsec VPNs (site-to-site and remote access) and firewalls (Cisco ASA, NETGATE)
- Optimize VPN tunnels (transport and tunnel modes) and secure NAT Traversal
- Implement encryption and authentication protocols (ESP, AH, IKE, Diffie-Hellman, RSA)
- Conduct cyber risk assessments to ensure DoD IA and RMF compliance
- Manage RMF lifecycle, including ACAS scanning, STIG assessments, and ATO certification
- Ensure ISR platform security through vulnerability assessments & system hardening
- Support defensive/offensive cybersecurity operations and continuous monitoring
- Provide technical leadership in cyber integration and secure IT architecture
- Deploy and maintain secure communication infrastructures for CONUS/OCONUS operations
- Additional duties as assigned or required
What we are looking for
- 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience
- Hands-on experience in VPN, IPsec, and network security
- CCNA Security or equivalent certification
- Expertise in Cisco ASA, NETGATE, IKEv2, GRE tunnels, and DMVPN
- Strong knowledge of encryption standards (AES, SHA, 3DES) and key exchange protocols
- DoD cybersecurity expertise: RMF, DISA STIGs, ATO, IA compliance
- Experience with ACAS, SCAP, COMSEC, and secure satellite/radio communications
- Ability to operate in high-tempo defense environments and travel CONUS/OCONUS
- Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI
Bonus points for...
- 7+ years hands-on experience in VPN, IPsec, and network security
- CCNP or equivalent advanced certification
- Experience with cloud-based VPNs in secure defense environments
- Deep understanding of Zero Trust Network Architecture (ZTNA)
- Prior work with DoD, NSA, DIA, or other intelligence community agencies
- Clearance: Possess and maintain a TS/SCI
