Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) is looking for a Production Planner and Scheduler to join their Integrated Product Services (IPS) team on a full-time basis. The position is a hybrid-location role, based at the Net Center in Hampton, VA. As the carrier technical manual Production Team Leader, the chosen candidate will be responsible for coordinating the development of multiple Navy aircraft carrier technical manuals. This role involves leading a team of writers to ensure that HII's customers receive exceptional support while meeting ship re-delivery goals.

What You Will Do

  • Research and evaluate multiple data sources to identify technical manual actions in support of ongoing and new Aircraft Carrier overhaul contracts.
  • Plan, prepare, issue, and control production schedules and coordinate with source data requirements to ensure a controlled development of approved Aircraft Carrier technical manuals timed to meet production requirements.
  • Advise management of the status of work in progress, source data availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, development tools, and technical manual products are provided as needed.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, source data acquisition, shipboard configuration status, Newport News Shipbuilding Engineering support, Government customers, and NNS suppliers as needed.

What You Must Have

  • 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience. 
  • Candidate must be able to evaluate, coordinate, and prioritize a complex product production stream coordinating with multiple internal and external parties.
  • Candidate must be able to train entry-level technical manual developers in preparing new and revised technical manuals using various research tools and databases.
  • Candidate must be PC literate – e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheets. 
  • Candidate must have a good command of the English language, able to communicate technical concepts effectively and express (oral/written) ideas clearly and concisely. 
  • Candidate must have experience in technical manual documentation. 

Bonus Points For Having!

  • Experience in the use of Navy technical manuals for a wide variety of equipment types.
  • Practical experience developing, implementing, and maintaining training program and related products.
  • Practical experience implementing quality assurance programs and processes including quality evaluations, analysis of raw data, and implementing actions for process improvement.
