Job Description
Position Summary
Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Industrial Security Analyst 2 to support security operations within a secured facility at our Net Center site in Newport News, VA. This role assists in administering and enforcing all security requirements in accordance with 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM Rule) and internal security policies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with diverse personalities. They must be willing to learn, ask questions, identify issues, and collaborate to develop practical solutions that enhance overall security posture. This position requires professionalism, adaptability, and the ability to both receive and provide constructive criticism to support continuous improvement.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Aids in developing, maintaining and administering security programs and procedures for classified documents, and equipment in compliance with 32 CFR Part 117.
- Interpret, apply, and support the implementation of federal security regulations.
- Obtains rulings, interpretations, and acceptable deviations for compliance with regulations from government agencies.
- Assists with maintaining manuals outlining regulations, and establishes procedures for handling, storing, and keeping records, and for granting staff and visitors access to restricted records and materials.
- Aids in managing all aspects of security activities including document control, visitor control, and personnel security.
- Provide clear guidance to employees and ensure all potential security concerns or incidents are immediately reported and documented.
- Conduct required security briefings, debriefings, training sessions, and annual refreshers.
- Manage and safeguard classified materials, including receiving, controlling, storing, transmitting, packaging, and destruction per government regulation requirements.
- Assist the Lead Custodian in performing audits of classified materials to ensure inventory is accurate and in compliance with NISPOM.
- Administers Defense Information for Security System (DISS), National Background Investigation Services (NBIS), and Access/Portal Commander activity including processing and maintaining personnel security clearances and visit requests.
- Maintains visitor control functions and verifies visit authorization requests (VARs) for submission.
- Investigate and report security incidents, support mitigation strategies, and assist with corrective action documentation.
- Maintains all records in compliance with our security manual and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years relevant experience; 3 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 1 year relevant experience with Masters in related field.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to engage constructively with strong personalities and maintain professionalism in dynamic environments.
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, adapt, and stay current with evolving industrial security requirements.
- Ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and collaborate effectively to improve processes.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, including comfort giving and receiving constructive feedback.
- Strong knowledge and use of Department of Defense systems and applications which includes DISS, NBIS, NISS, SWFT.
- Knowledge and experience enforcing security policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Newport News Shipbuilding processes and procedures, highly desired.
- Knowledge and experience using an Inventory Management System such as Access Commander, desired.
- Experience in the management of a cleared facility.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- ACTIVE Secret Security Clearance, required at hire
Physical Requirements
- Minimal mobility, dexterity, or coordination required to operate business machines. Minimal lifting may be required.
