Who We Are
HII Mission Technologies is seeking an experienced Design Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers focused on the development and design of innovative technologies in support of mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering design, project management, and a proven ability to guide multidisciplinary teams through complex engineering challenges. This leadership position offers the opportunity to make significant impact on the development of cutting-edge systems that serve national defense and other government agencies.
What You Will Do
- Designs major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
- Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal.
- Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
- Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development.
- Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures.
- Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
- Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers.
What You Must Have
- 6 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant progressive experience.
- Candidate must have previous management and leadership experience.
- Candidate must have shipboard and design experience.
- Candidate must have experience with SIDs, engineering reports, and test procedures related to communications.
- Candidate must have experience in electrical, power and lighting, and power generation systems.
- Candidate must have experience with engineering calculations including load analysis, power analysis, short circuit calculations, lighting calculations, weight & stability.
- Candidate must have an active Secret Clearance.
Bonus Points For Having!
- Experience working on CVN/LHA/ LHD/LCS class hulls
