At HII we build and maintain U.S. Army readiness every day. Our technical support team is looking for Army Watercraft System Engineer to help support the U.S. Army. The selected personnel will be performing duties to help conduct preventive maintenance checks & services (PMCS), engineering maintenance support and systems validation checks on Landing Craft Utility (LCU-2000) at the 3rd port on Fort Eustis, VA. #LI-MJ1

What you will do

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Hands on verifications
  • Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks
  • Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as material test results and engineering design changes.
  • Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
  • Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.

What you must have

  • Must have 9 years’ relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years’ relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years’ relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years’ relevant experience.
  • Must have experience performing preventive maintenance checks & services (PMCS) & validation.
  • Must have hands on and engineering experience with Landing Craft Utility (LCU-2000) US Army watercraft systems in all of the following aspects; propulsion, hydraulics, piping, pneumatic, electrical and power generation.
  • Must have a current or active DoD secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain base access credentials within 60 days of hire and maintain them throughout employment.

Bonus points for...

  • Candidates with 88A1-A2/8840 US Army transportation school certification are highly desired.
  • Candidates with experience on Landing Craft Utility (LCU-2000) are highly desired
  • Past experience supervising maintenance or engineering teams preferred.
  • Experience with Caterpillar engines and associated systems and equipment are a plus.

 

Physical Requirements

Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
