Summary
This is an UNPAID internship through the DoD Skillbridge Program for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. DoD Skillbridge Internships are available to help transitioning active-duty military personnel gain real-world experience in the work force sometime during their final 180 days of active-duty service. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. HII Mission Technologies Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII.
Objective
The Skillbridge intern will train as a Logistician within the HII Mission Technologies, reporting to Natalie Kastner, with the goal of getting certified and capable of providing Logistics Management Analyst support; while equipping them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and experience to contribute effectively to the CICP team. The intern will be assigned special projects as needed.
Desired End State (3-4 month target)
At the end of 3-4 months, the intern learning goals are:
- Supply Chain and Asset Management
- Understand the principles of supply chain management and asset tracking
- Learn to use ODIN, DIAS, and other relevant software systems
- Gain proficiency in inventory management and reconciliation techniques
- DoD Logistics Operations
- Familiarize with DoD specifications and guidelines for logistics
- Learn about shipping and receiving processes within the DoD framework
- Understand the intricacies of working with special sensors and aerospace equipment
- Customer Service and Relationship Management
- Develop skills in interacting with customers and fulfilling order requests
- Learn to build and maintain relationships with strategic customers
- Understand the importance of continuous improvement in logistics processes
HII Mission Technologies will benefit from the military background of the Skillbridge intern and considers the Skillbridge internship an overall positive experience.
Assumptions
SkillBridge Intern will possess at minimum a TS/SCI with CI Poly clearance.
SkillBridge Intern will be available during core hours for critical meetings and training. No more that 40hrs per week.
Skillbridge Intern will not represent HII back to the DoD or Government on behalf of HII.
Program of Instruction
Training Location: Fort Meade, MD (on-site)
Training Plan
WEEK 1: ORIENTATION & FUNDAMENTALS
- Company orientation, security protocols, and facility familiarization
- Introduction to CICP team structure and basic logistics concepts
- Initial training on MS Office Suite and company software systems
WEEK 2: SUPPLY CHAIN BASICS
- Introduction to ODIN and DIAS software systems
- Basic inventory management principles and procedures
- Shadow receiving and inspection processes
WEEK 3: SHIPPING & RECEIVING
- Learn FedEx shipping procedures and documentation
- Practice equipment inspection and labeling requirements
- Training on proper handling of special sensors
WEEK 4: INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
- Learn automated and manual accounting procedures
- Practice reconciliation of activity records
WEEK 5: DOD SPECIFICATIONS
- Study DoD logistics specifications and guidelines
- Learn military shipping requirements and documentation
- Training on classified material handling procedures
WEEK 6: SOFTWARE SYSTEMS
- Advanced ODIN system operations
- IBM Cognos reporting procedures
- OnBase document management training
WEEK 7: LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT
- Product integration and fit testing procedures
- Documentation requirements and processes
- Asset tracking and maintenance scheduling
WEEK 8: PROCUREMENT & VENDOR MANAGEMENT
- Work with procurement team on purchase requests
WEEK 9: CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Customer interaction training and role-playing
- Order fulfillment procedures
- Problem resolution techniques
WEEK 10: TRANSPORTATION & LOGISTICS
- TMO and DCS operations
- Local transportation procedures and documentation
- Travel log maintenance requirements
WEEK 11: ADVANCED OPERATIONS
- Special sensor handling and documentation
- Aerospace equipment procedures
- Complex shipping arrangements
WEEK 12: PROGRAM COMPLETION
- Final project presentation
- Performance evaluation and feedback
- Transition planning to full-time role

Minimum Qualifications
Active-Duty Military ONLY within final 180 days of active-duty service. Applications accepted within final 12 months of active-duty US Military service. Education and Experience dependent on Program of Instruction.
- Transitioning US military service member with 6 years of relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years of relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
- 3+ years’ experience with supply chain or asset management
- Demonstrable experience with logistics lifecycle management support operations
- Possesses working knowledge of DoD specifications and guidelines
- TS/SCI with CI Poly security clearance required.

- Familiarity with FedEx, TMO, LOC, and DCS
- Previous work with Special Sensors
- Prior military logistics experience (Army MOS 92A, Air Force 2G0X1, Navy LS)
