Job Description
HII—Mission Technologies is currently seeking a Journeyman Cybersecurity Engineer to work out of Fort Meade, MD, in support of a multi-national capability developed to connect respective existing national Secret networks and services to deliver improved information sharing capabilities between Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Analyze and parse vulnerability assessment results from Nessus (ACAS) to identify and prioritize security weaknesses in systems and maintain proper workflow for ASIs to reduce CCRI scores.
- Track and maintain STIG matrix to ensure compliance with security guidelines and facilitate remediation efforts.
- Manage and document workflows, Security Impact Assessments (SIAs), and Requests for Change (RFCs) to maintain organized security processes.
- Serve as a backup operator for Nessus and Trellix, ensuring continuous security monitoring and vulnerability management.
- Collaborate with team members to define procedures for securing technology and fulfilling project requirements.
- Assist ISSOs in developing project plans, functional requirements, and delivering secured IT infrastructures and applications.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 0 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree in a related field; or a High School Diploma or equivalent with 6 years of relevant experience.
- Applicable cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, Security+, or similar.
- Experience with vulnerability assessment tools, specifically Nessus (ACAS), and securing information systems and network infrastructures.
- Strong technical knowledge of contemporary methods for securing information sources and delivery mechanisms.
- Must possess an Active Secret Security Clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Requirements
- Proficient in data analysis and effective problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with security best practices and frameworks (e.g., NIST, RMF).
- Experience with incident response and managing security incidents.
- Knowledge of security tools and technologies beyond Nessus, such as SIEM solutions or endpoint protection platforms.
- Understanding of network security concepts and protocols (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems).
