Job Description

Mission Technologies is searching for an experienced Operations Manager to join our team in Fort Belvoir, VA. HII’s Mission Technologies division is dedicated to delivering cutting-edge solutions that advance national security and defense objectives.

 

This role is part of a current proposal scheduled to start in 2026. 

 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Lead development, integration, and management of the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with program objectives.
  • Oversee scheduling personnel, providing guidance, mentorship, and quality assurance across all scheduling activities.
  • Establish, maintain, and manage schedule baselines, ensuring timely updates, risk identification, and schedule integrity throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Conduct detailed schedule analyses, including critical path evaluation, task dependency mapping, and variance assessments to support program decision-making.
  • Perform schedule health assessments using industry-standard metrics such as DCMA 14‑point checks, BEI, CPLI, and SPI, and prepare associated reports.
  • Support development and delivery of Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission.
  • Coordinate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure schedule alignment, integration of technical milestones, and synchronization of program activities.
  • Lead and support operational planning for IT systems across globally distributed enterprise environments, ensuring continuity of operations and effective system performance.
  • Develop, document, and implement detailed operational processes, configuration management procedures, and change control mechanisms for network and IT systems.
  • Direct multidisciplinary teams during planned and unplanned operational activities, ensuring clear communication, task prioritization, and safe execution.
  • Participate in design reviews, configuration audits, and technical evaluations to validate system baselines and ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Monitor enterprise IT and network systems for performance, identifying tuning, optimization, and risk mitigation opportunities.
  • Manage complex and high‑risk projects, ensuring deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with program standards and customer expectations.
  • Serve as an on-site leader at Fort Belvoir, VA, supporting customer engagement, daily operations, program reviews, and issue resolution.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree. Additional 4+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree allowed
  • 5+ years integrated master schedule (IMS) experience with at least 2+ years leading scheduling personnel
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Project (Server or Online)
  • Demonstrated experience on programs with responsibility for development and execution of the IMS, including setup, baseline management and update/maintenance, schedule analysis, critical path analysis, task dependencies, and CDRL deliveries
  • Experience with schedule health metrics (e.g., DCMA 14-point check) and Schedule Metric Analysis – such as BEI, CPLI, SPI, etc.
  • Active TOP SECRET clearance with eligibility for SCI  
  • Ability to work on-site as required at Ft. Belvoir, VA during normal business hours.

 

Mgr Project Management I

4 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 2 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years relevant progressive experience. 

Mgr Project Management II 

6 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant progressive experience.

Mgr Project Management III 

8 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 6 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 12 years relevant progressive experience.

 

 

Salary range based on background, skills, experience and education. 

Preferred Requirements

  • Microsoft Project (Server or Online) certification(s)
  • Advanced certification in a related IT or cybersecurity field, such as Security+, SecurityX/CASP+, CISSP, CCNA, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing operating and maintenance for complex IT solutions across globally distributed Enterprise systems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and directing cross-team coordination efforts, order of operations, deployment activities, and personnel during planned and unplanned activities.
  • Developing, documenting, and implementing processes, detailed plans, and multidisciplinary panels for configuration and change control during network projects.
  • Leading design reviews, configuration audits, and evaluations of products to ensure proper identification, control and status accounting of a baseline for all IT systems.
  • Demonstrated experience monitoring and assessing networking system and solutions proactively for performance degradation and tuning and optimization opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex and/or high-risk projects on time and within budget.
