Job Description

HII- Mission Technologies is seeking a MBSE Systems Engineer to support our customer, the USAFE Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Data Officer (CDO), who develop technical strategies for the Chief of Staff (CoS), DCOM, COM and senior United States Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa (USAFE-AFAFRICA) leadership. The CTO/CDO serve as the CoS’s technical authority and senior professional communications advisor and consultant and supports the 4-star USAFE-AFAFRICA Commander in his duties as lead integrator for the command. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Craft and execute operational analysis of existing and possible operational and systems architectures for the sponsor across all facets of Doctrine, Organizations, Training, Material, Leadership, Personnel, Facilities and Policy (DOTMLPF-P) to inform senior sponsor strategic and organizational decision making
  • Provide enterprise systems engineering and architecture technical leadership, strategic-level analyses and recommendations, expertise and counsel to the Government sponsor team on a wide spectrum of topics
  • Collaborate with MITRE Labs and relevant Platform partners to contribute to greater practice of MBSE and DE across the enterprise.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse, multi-disciplinary team ensuring that developed recommendations will integrate into overall sponsor, project, and division goals.
  • Modeling architectures of complex systems using standards-based languages (ex. SysML)
  • Creating, sharing, and understanding architectural and systems engineering models and artifacts to support more effective and timely decisions
  • Articulating major uncertainties associated with systems architectures, defining risks and opportunities associated with the uncertainties
  • Supporting requirements management, interface management and architecture change management processes
  • Enabling process and data integration across a program / organization and with mission partners using model-based processes, methods, artifacts, tools, and analysis
  • Providing model-based analysis and recommendations for capability modernization and investment decisions
  • Translating analysis results into actionable recommendations for the US Government agencies
  • Training and educating sponsor and personnel on the proper use of systems models across the architecture and engineering continuum of practice to meet functional requirements and mission needs


Minimum Qualifications

  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with at least one systems modeling tool: (preferred) NoMagic, Cameo Enterprise Architecture or IBM Rational Rhapsody
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and engineering excellence
  • Understanding of Service Component, Combatant Command, and NATO missions and operations
  • Willingness to learn and grow digital engineering and model-based systems engineering skills
  • Clearance- Must possess and maintain a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility

Preferred Requirements

  • BS in a technical discipline, such as Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Computer), Physics, Statistics, or Mathematics
  • MS in systems engineering (or related technical field), and at least five years’ experience applying practical systems engineering best practices in requirements development, engineering, and analysis; system decomposition and design; analysis planning and performance; test/verification planning and performance, system integration
  • Experience with architecture frameworks and related modeling profiles, such as Unified Profile for DoDAF and MoDAF (UPDM), or Unified Architecture Framework Profile (UAFP)
  • Demonstrated experience using Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and systems modeling methods, such as Object-Oriented Systems Engineering Method (OOSEM)
  • Knowledge and understanding of reference architectures and their use
  • Experience building systems models, conducting analysis, and providing recommendations within a team environment on multiple projects

Physical Requirements

Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
