Summary
HII Mission Technologies is seeking skilled Contractor Operations and Maintenance Support (COMS) professionals to support F‑16 Mission Tactics Trainer (MTT) simulators for the U.S. Air National Guard at NAS Fallon, NV. These positions support both Technician‑level and Lead‑level responsibilities within the same labor category family.
These roles ensure the readiness, reliability, and performance of advanced flight simulation systems used to prepare aircrew for real‑world missions. Whether performing hands‑on technical maintenance or leading a team of COMS personnel, you will directly contribute to mission success and national defense readiness.

Key Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities (All Levels)
System Operations & Maintenance
- Operate and maintain F‑16 MTT simulator systems in accordance with technical manuals and training requirements
- Support Distributed Mission Operations (DMO), including setup, power cycles, readiness testing, and initialization
- Diagnose and resolve system issues during training events and daily operations
- Implement hardware and software updates, patches, and modifications
- Conduct operability tests and perform repairs on computers and associated equipment
- Provide networking and information systems support for training devices
- Maintain strict adherence to safety, security, and base procedures
Reporting & Compliance
- Track and update configuration status of training systems
- Prepare technical documentation, logs, and reports
- Support compliance with DoD, cybersecurity, and site‑specific requirements
Additional Responsibilities by Level
COMS Technician (Mid‑Level)
- Apply advanced technical knowledge to troubleshoot system and network issues
- Interpret schematics, technical drawings, and operating system documentation
- Support daily operations and training events with minimal supervision
- Collaborate with team members to maintain system readiness
COMS Lead (Senior‑Level)
In addition to all Technician duties, the Lead will:
- Provide daily leadership, oversight, and task direction to COMS personnel
- Manage schedules, workload distribution, and performance expectations
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members
- Ensure simulator systems meet operational readiness standards and customer requirements
- Promote safety, compliance, and knowledge‑sharing across the team
- Serve as primary technical point of contact for escalated issues
What you must have
COMS Technician
Education/Experience (one of the following):
- Bachelor’s degree + 2 years relevant experience
- Master’s degree (no experience required)
- High school diploma/equivalent + 6 years relevant experience
Technical Requirements & Credintials
- Ability to interpret schematics, safety rules, and technical manuals
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe products
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively
- Must obtain DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification prior to start
- Active DoD Secret clearance
COMS Lead
Education/Experience (one of the following):
- Bachelor’s degree + 5 years relevant experience
- Master’s degree + 3 years relevant experience
- PhD/JD (no experience required)
- High school diploma/equivalent + 9 years relevant experience
Technical Requirements & Credintials
- Strong ability to interpret schematics, safety rules, and technical manuals
- Advanced troubleshooting skills and experience with diagnostic tools
- Solid understanding of aircraft systems and simulation technology
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills
- Must obtain DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification prior to start
- Active DoD Secret clearance
Preferred Requirements
- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher (Security+, CCNA Security, GSEC, etc.)
- Experience with F‑16 Aircrew or Maintenance Training Systems
- Prior support of Special Access Program (SAP) efforts
- Experience supporting DMO environments
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 40 pounds overhead
- Climb into simulators or aircraft cockpits
- Stooping, bending, and crawling for device access
- Detect environmental cues (sounds, odors) for troubleshooting
- Distinguish colors for system diagnostics
