Mission Technologies is hiring a Senior Technical Architect for cross-functional collaboration with technical, operational, and executive stakeholders. This is a Hybrid role with occasional travel. The Senior Technical Architect plays a critical role in shaping the future state of the enterprise's digital ecosystem. This leader is responsible for architecting transformative solutions that align with business objectives while driving innovation through emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, and data-centric strategies. The position combines enterprise architecture vision with hands-on technical leadership, ensuring scalable, secure, and sustainable technology growth.
Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!
Strategy & Innovation:
• Develop and drive enterprise-wide IT innovation and technology strategies in partnership with executive stakeholders.
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies—including AI, machine learning, automation, and data platforms—for competitive and operational advantage.
• Build innovation roadmaps that align with strategic business goals and future state architecture.
• Lead innovation pilots and proofs-of-concept that can be scaled into full enterprise solutions.
Architecture & Technical Leadership:
• Strong technical knowledge of the following:
o Enterprise networking, including LAN/WAN/WLAN, SDWAN, MPLS, routing & switching, traffic management, firewalls, VPNs,
o Enterprise data environments, including both Cloud as well as traditional datacenter/Co-Lo’s
o Computing platforms including a variety of virtualization platforms and IT Infrastructure Solutions
• Mandatory Technology knowledge:
o Hardware: Dell, Nutanix, Palo Alto, Cisco Networking Stack
o Virtualization: VMware, Hyper-V, KVM
o Kubernetes, Ansible
o SDWAN Providers
o Storage technologies
o SQL Databases
• Detailed knowledge of Cloud services: SaaS, Paas, Iaas, Daas - in particular Azure (GCC) & Amazon Web Services
• Design and maintain scalable, secure enterprise architectures that integrate AI, data, cloud, and core IT systems.
• Establish and govern architectural principles, reference models, and technology standards.
• Architect future-state platforms to support next-generation data analytics, digital experiences, and intelligent automation.
• Provide expert guidance on modernization of legacy systems through microservices, containers, and cloud-native solutions.
AI & Data Leadership:
• Define and implement enterprise AI and data strategies, including governance, ethics, and lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and business units to enable enterprise AI capabilities across functions.
• Architect data pipelines, platforms, and integrations to ensure robust data availability, quality, and usability.
• Champion responsible AI use, aligning technology capabilities with risk, compliance, and transparency standards.
Collaboration & Governance:
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and business teams to align solutions across domains.
• Represent architecture in strategic planning, innovation councils, and investment reviews.
• Mentor architecture and technical teams, building a culture of innovation, excellence, and agility.
Requirements: I have already done that or have it!
• 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in IT, with 5+ years in IT operations or strategic technology leadership.
• Proven expertise in designing enterprise solutions using AI/ML, data platforms, and cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Strong track record of delivering innovative technology solutions that drive measurable business impact.
• Demonstrated experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Gartner, Zachman).
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.
Preferred Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s preferred, years’ experience without degree considered.
• Certification in enterprise or cloud architecture (e.g., AWS/Azure Architect, TOGAF).
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML platforms (e.g., Azure ML, SageMaker, Databricks, TensorFlow).
• Familiarity with data governance platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation).
• Experience operating in highly regulated environments (e.g., federal, energy, defense).
