Who we are
Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking a Senior Director of Compensation to join our growing organization. This key position will play a pivotal role on the human capital leadership team reporting directly to the Vice President of Human Capital.
The Senior Director of Compensation will act as a strategic advisor and influencer to key stakeholders across the company. The role will be responsible for advancing the total rewards philosophy of Mission Technologies in alignment with our evolving business and markets. This position leads a team of compensation professionals, who are accountable for the strategy, planning, development, and implementation of all compensation programs that are internally equitable, externally competitive, and legally compliant.
This is a hybrid position with regular in-person requirements in our Fairfax and McLean, VA offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic compensation consultation and data driven, innovative solutions to complex business challenges.
- Proactively engage with key stakeholders in corporate and across the company to build strong relationships and to provide thought leadership and advisement on compensation/total rewards strategies and competitive trends.
- Establish a strategic roadmap to guide the advancement of the function and key business objectives.
- Lead strategic compensation projects and participate in cross-functional / cross-division project teams.
- Enhance communication, training and processes associated with total reward programs. Implement best practices and expand organizational knowledge and capabilities.
- Develop and present comprehensive analytics and summaries for executive discussion/approval reviews.
- Lead the administration of annual division benchmarking and recommend get-well actions and/or other proactive measures.
- Ensure legal compliance with relevant federal, state and local regulations; proactively research legislative and market trends to formulate appropriate responses and ensure organizational readiness. Ensure timely and accurate responses to internal and external audits, including DCAA.
What you need to have:
- 10 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; or 8 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in people leadership.
- At least 5 years of experience in the government contracting /high tech industry.
Bonus points for:
- Master’s degree in human resources, business administration, accounting or finance with 12+ years progressive experience in the compensation function of a similarly sized business > $1B.
- 10+ years of experience in people leadership.
- 10+ years of experience in the government contracting/high tech industry.
- 5+ years of experience consulting.
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) strongly preferred. Experience managing international compensation, global mobility, M&A due diligence and integrations a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communications. Exceptional data analytics, story-telling and MS Excel skills. Experience crafting executive briefings and leading conversations with top executives.
- Demonstrated ability to advise, challenge and influence colleagues and build relationships at all levels in an organization.
- Track record for successful and organized project management.
- Proven responsiveness and client-focused mindset.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and the flexibility to adapt to changing requirements.
- Self-motivated, results-focused; able to figure things out and get things done in ambiguous circumstances.
