Who we are

HII-Mission Technologies is currently seeking a Payroll Manager to join our company. This position will be located in our Fairfax, VA office. The Payroll Manager will be responsible for all aspects of payroll, to include managing a team to process payroll, reviewing payroll changes, and maintaining an effective payroll procedure. 

 

To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience managing payroll for a large organization and have excellent attention to detail. To ensure success you should be able to create strategies for the continuous improvement of payroll systems. Ultimately, you’ll ensure payroll is processed in an accurate and timely manner.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing all aspects of the payroll process, such as approving transactions and reviewing exemptions.
  • Managing payroll data changes.
  • Work with benefits and our benefits vendors to ensure all benefits related input is accurate and complete.
  • Ensure regular communication with benefits to stay current on all changes.
  • Stay up-to-date with labor legislation and any changes in employee insurance and tax regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all payroll and tax laws and organizational policies.
  • Maintaining payroll systems and reporting any issues to management.
  • Supervising payroll personnel and ensuring best financial practices are adhered to.
  • Auditing payroll transactions to ensure that accounts, payment dates, and taxes are accurate and up to date.
  • Ensure timely and professional responses to payroll questions.
  • End of year W2 processing.
  • Coordinate with internal & external audits.
  • Creating monthly and annual payroll reports for management review.
  • Attending to any payroll-related queries or questions from employees.
  • Manage payroll discrepancies quickly and efficiently.
     

What you need to have:

  • 8 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 6 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 12 years relevant progressive experience.
  • At least three years' experience as a Payroll Manager.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with labor legislation and federal tax laws.
  • Experience with processing payrolls for multiple states.
  • The ability to ethically work with employee-sensitive information.
  • Solid knowledge of data entry management.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with team members.
