Summary:

HII–Mission Technologies is seeking a motivated Buyer to support critical procurement activities across multiple high‑impact programs. You’ll work closely with engineers, program managers, and suppliers to ensure materials are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification. If you’re energized by solving challenges, driving results, and contributing to meaningful national‑security missions, this role offers the perfect blend of impact and opportunity. What You Will Do:

  • Execute procurement of materials and services, including price evaluation, availability assessment, and delivery scheduling

  • Develop, negotiate, and administer purchase orders and agreements of significant dollar value, risk, and complexity in accordance with procurement policies and customer requirements

  • Prepare solicitations and RFQs, support proposal efforts, conduct price and cost analyses, and negotiate pricing and contractual terms

  • Analyze supplier proposals for terms and conditions, FAR/DFAR flow‑downs, pricing, schedules, and technical compliance with specifications or statements of work

  • Partner with program staff to ensure procurement activities align with performance, schedule, and compliance requirements

  • Participate in cross‑functional teams to develop business solutions for complex or nonstandard agreements

  • Collaborate regularly with procurement staff, functional teams, suppliers, and internal customers

  • Represent Procurement in discussions with program management on a variety of acquisition matters

  • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on risk identification, mitigation strategies, and procurement best practices

  • Track requisitions and purchase orders through completion, ensuring timely follow‑up and issue resolution

  • Prepare and distribute purchase orders to suppliers and originating departments

  • Negotiate and resolve supplier issues including damage claims, rejections, returns, over‑shipments, cancellations, and engineering change orders

  • Work independently with limited supervision while managing multiple complex projects simultaneously

What We're Looking For:

 

  • 6 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related field; or 4 years with a master’s degree; or 10 years of relevant experience with a high school diploma/equivalent

  • Strong understanding of procurement operations

  • Experience managing tight deadlines in a low‑volume, high‑mix, fast‑paced environment

  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and able to succeed with minimal direction

  • Ability to:

    • Work both independently and collaboratively

    • Manage, track, and report on multiple projects simultaneously

    • Influence without authority

    • Collect, manage, and analyze data

    • Conduct detailed organizational‑level analysis and communicate findings to both individual contributors and executives

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong drive to take action, collaborate, and deliver results

Preferred Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience with FAR/DFAR implementation and CPSR‑compliant purchasing systems

  • Costpoint experience
