As an Operational Mission Planning Software Test Engineer, you’ll collaborate with seasoned USAF-appointed Project Managers and cross-functional teams to ensure our mission planning systems perform flawlessly under challenging conditions.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Locations:

  • Dyess AFB, TX, or

  • Eglin AFB, FL

 

  • Develop & Execute Test Plans: Craft, maintain, and execute meticulous test plans for the Air Force Mission Planning System and associated evaluations. You’ll design innovative test methodologies that cover OT&E, Force Development Evaluations, and more.

  • Support Critical Systems: Work hands-on with systems such as the Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS), Portable Flight Planning Software (PFPS), Life Cycle Upgrade, and other integrated platforms. Your efforts will advance support for a variety of aircraft and related equipment.

  • Prepare & Deliver Comprehensive Test Documentation: Create and lead the execution of detailed test briefings and reports—including Operational Assessment (OA), Early Operational Assessment (EOA), Concept of Test Briefs (COTB), Joint Charters, OSD briefs, Combined Readiness Reviews (CRR), detailed Final Reports (FREP), and Release Recommendations (RR).

  • Maintain Rigorous Configuration Control: Oversee configuration control for software, hardware, and documentation while ensuring accuracy within internal and test management data systems.

  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with experts from Flight Performance Modeling, Platform Integration, and Take-off and Landing Data (TOLD) teams to ensure a synchronized approach during OT&E/validation phases.

  • Travel Commitment: Be prepared for travel of approximately 10-25% to support mission-critical tests and evaluations.

Minimum Qualifications

5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.

  • Operational Expertise:

    • Former military aviator experience with qualification as a crewmember within the last 10 years is essential

  • Clearance:

    • Must meet Top Secret/SCI eligibility requirements

  • Desirable Specializations:

    • Hands-on experience with aircraft such as the B-52 or B-1

    • Background in flight testing and software test engineering

Physical Requirements

Office, industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.
