Job Description
Huntington Ingalls Industries, Mission Technologies Division (HII-MT) is seeking a qualified candidate for RF Test Engineer, Radar Systems. The RF Test Engineer performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and risk analysis. Analyses are performed at all levels to include test, installation, and operations. The engineer must be able to properly employ test assets and provide test support in a highly dynamic environment. The engineer will perform RF link budget analysis and radar system performance analysis. The engineer shall present a deep understanding of testing philosophies and methodologies within an agile test environment. The engineer shall demonstrate proficiency in test documentation and etiquette.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Designs, develops, tests radio frequency (RF) and/or microwave systems architecture, components, circuits, or products. Includes antenna design, both reflector and array systems, frequency synthesizers, transmitters and receivers.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors degree in related field, or a high school diploma or equivalent and 6 years of relevant experience.
- Interest in Electronic Warfare Systems or Radar design and testing
- Interest in Radar signal processing techniques
- Experience with RF test equipment to include but not limited to spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and vector network analyzers
- Experience with MATLAB
- Hands-on testing, integration, and verification support across lab facilities requiring skills with algorithm development, software integration, hardware testing, and IT networking
- Basic understanding of RF Hazards to include Hazardous Emission Radiation to Personnel, Fuel, and Ordnance (HERP/F/O)
- Demonstrate the ability to clearly generate technical documentation, test procedures, and test reports. Understand customer requirements and objectives
- Support technical and functional leadership through the identification of risk
- Must be willing to travel for extended periods of time. Deployment times will vary and typically last between one to two weeks with potential of three to four weeks.
- Must be willing and able to work outdoors and handle exposure to heat, cold, sun, and other biological hazards (insects, wildlife, hazardous plants)
- Average of 25% travel required, mostly CONUS
Clearance
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with enhanced security checks
- Minimum secret clearance required to start
Physical Requirements
- May require working in an office, industrial, or laboratory environment
- Capable of climbing ladders, tolerating confined spaces, and extreme temperature variances
- Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, and lift 50 lbs
- Walking, climbing, lifting, and working both in and outdoor conditions
