Job Description

HII is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support Electro-Optical and Infrared (EO/IR) system characterization of foreign assets in support of providing the United States Intelligence Community with highly technical information on foreign adversary capabilities. The EO/IR Engineer will aide in the exploitation foreign weapon systems such as aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, aerodynamic weapons, space systems, ballistic missiles, and associated subsystems to establish their design, performance capabilities, limitations, and vulnerabilities. In this position you must be able to work independently and in teams.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities

In this position you will be supporting the Foreign Materiel Exploitation (FME) Squadron of the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC). The mission objective is to help U.S. warfighters maintain their competitive edge by enabling the execution of timely exploitation of foreign aerospace and electronic systems for FME’s Global Exploitation Intelligence Group. Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on in EO/IR system characterization and measurements relevant to the FME mission.
  • Your work experience should include:
  • Emissivity, absorptivity, and total reflectance measurements in both visible and IR.  Reflectometer and goniometer measurements including hemispherical-directional reflectance (HDR), directional-hemispherical reflectance (DHR) and Bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF)
  • Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy, non-contact interferometers and surface profilers, lens measurements, modulation transfer function (MTF) and line spread function calculations.  Determination of effective focal length, field of view and field of regard.
  • Focal Plane Array (FPA) measurements, spectral range, responsivity, noise equivalent power (NEP), minimum resolvable temperature difference (MRTD)
  • Ability to develop test plans, analyze test data,
  • Authoring professional technical reports detailing results of analysis and measurements, and give technical presentations.
  • Self-Motivated and goal oriented
  • Ability to aide and instruct technicians in measurement techniques and methods
  • Electrical Engineering or related degree
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Candidates must hold an active DoD Secret clearance at the time of application and be eligible for a Top Secret/SCI Clearance and additional clearances commensurate to their involvement with the USG
  • 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 0 years experience with Masters in related field.

Preferred Requirements

 

  • Familiarity with Radio Frequency (RF) instrumentation and components such as network and spectrum analyzers, software defined radios (SDR), signal generators, power meters, couplers, hybrids, etc.
  • Knowledge of RF signal chain analysis, individual device characterization, system sensitivity, gain, bandwidth, dynamic range, noise figures, compression point determination, phase stability, antenna characterization, etc.
  • Four (4) years direct experience in Engineering field 

 

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office and industrial environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
