Job Description

The Cyber, EW and Space Group provides full-spectrum capabilities that address today’s rapidly changing, multi-domain global security threats and anticipate emerging threats.
The Software Developer will support the Advanced Space Technology for Range Operations (ASTRO) Phase III program for the Operational Test & Training Infrastructure (OTTI) Integrated Program Office (IPO). OTTI provides a series of capabilities (including space and/or ground nodes) that, when brought together, create unique range environments intended to serve specific test and training requirements. The present effort will deliver a prototype system to be used by Orbital Warfare and Electronic Warfare Range Operators to perform Mission Planning, make Range Safety decisions, and enable Range Instrumentation.
This position requires extensive knowledge and experience with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) methodologies and servant leadership principles to facilitate agile development teams. As part of a SAFe Agile Scrum Team, the Software Developer will develop and deploy a multi-functional Range Control System that integrates proven software technologies and an intuitive user experience into a secure cloud architecture.
The Developer will support teams in delivering secure, compliant, integrated solutions incrementally through iterative development cycles. This includes maintaining high transparency via daily scrums and ensuring "building quality in" through rigorous integration testing and security validation. Collaboration will be essential, as the developer works across scrum teams, partner companies, and Government stakeholders to deliver mission-critical capabilities through an incremental implementation strategy responsive to dynamic customer demands.

Software Engineer 2 – Salary min 86,246.00 ~Target salary 112,008.00
Software Engineer 3 – Salary min 110,090.00 ~Target salary 125,000.00
Software Engineer 4– Salary min 117,531.00 ~ Target salary 141,000.00
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Engineering, or related discipline preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Scrum Master (Level 4): 9 years relevant experience with Bachelor's Degree, with experience as a Scrum Master, specifically in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) environment. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
- Scrum Team Member (Level 3): 5 years relevant experience with Bachelor's Degree, with experience in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) environment. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
- Active DOD TS clearance required to start; ability to obtain SCI
- Travel CONUS approximately 10% of the time but could surge to 25%.
- Program execution will primarily be accomplished in Colorado Springs, Dayton, and the National Capital Region. While most work may be accomplished remotely, the Software Developer must be willing to travel regularly to Government and contractor sites with Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities.
HII is hiring both a Scrum Master (Software Developer Level 4) and Scrum Team Member (Software Developer Level 3).
Preferred Requirements
- Experience developing with Python, Java or TypeScript/Node.js, and SQL
- Experience working with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence) and SharePoint or GitHub
- SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM), SAFe Government Practitioner (SGP), or SAFe Agilist (SA) certification
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification
- Familiarity/experience with AWS cloud services, particularly AWS GovCloud and FedRAMP-authorized environments (IL4/IL5/IL6)
- Experience with multi-level secure (MLS) systems and cross-domain solutions (CDS)
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Podman)
- Familiarity with NIST 800-53 controls and Authorization to Operate (ATO) processes
- Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture principles and implementation
- Experience with API integration, microservices architectures, and service-oriented architecture
- Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering, SysML, and modeling tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler.
