Job Description

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Mission Technologies (HII-MT) is seeking a qualified candidate for Space Hardware Engineer with experience using science and technology to research, develop, test, and evaluate spacecraft systems and satellites.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
• Using mathematics, scientific, and engineering principles to design, repair, and improve spacecraft, component parts, facilities, and materials.

• Create or modify LabVIEW, FPGA and Real-Time software to meet testing needs for current or upcoming programs. 
• Create test operational documents to support current and modified programs. 
• Full lifecycle application development. Designing, coding and debugging applications in various software languages. 
• Software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, identification of code metrics, system risk analysis, software reliability analysis. 
• Testing and quality assurance. Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation. 
• Support, maintain and document functionality. Integrate software with existing systems. 
• Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical test equipment and components. 
• Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks. 
• Test experience with signal generators and spectrum analyzers.  

Essential Job Responsibilities

Conducts research, design, development, and testing of electrical or mechanical hardware such as computer chips, circuit boards, mechanical and electrical components. Ensures reliability, develops technical specifications for production, analyzes hardware configuration and processing solutions, and tests hardware conformance to specifications; may design new or modify existing products .

Minimum Qualifications

  • 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in applicable engineering or science field preferred, however candidates with relevant equivalent work experience will be considered (HS Diploma and 8+ years experience)
  • Minimum secret clearance required to start work
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI government security clearance with enhanced security checks

Preferred Requirements

  • Progressive experience using LabVIEW , LabVIEW Real-time, and LabVIEW FPGA 
  • HDL (Verilog/ VHDL) simulation/ programming/ debug 
  • Experience with Xilinx FPGA/MPSoC/RFSoC projects and Xilinx toolsets (ISE and / or Vivado) 
  • Experience with High-Level Synthesis Tools such as MATLAB HDL Coder 
  • Experience with model-based design (specifically Simulink) 
  • Secret Clearance
  • Experience with embedded software development using assembly, C, C++, or other languages.
  • Experience with embedded software development on systems with the following operating system environments: Linux, Unix, Windows, or other
  • Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) techniques, theory and high-throughput implementation 

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
