Summary

HII Mission Technologies Division is seeking an experienced, self-motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This role requires collaboration with all levels of managers, engineers, and technicians promoting growth and development within the C5ISR group. We are looking for a candidate who can make an immediate impact as part of the RDT&E Mechanical and Electromechanical devices in support of Special Purpose Munitions (SPM) program assisting with military applications. Works autonomously with minimal direction. May provide a leadership role for the mechanical work group through knowledge in requirements flow-down, concept creation, rapid-prototyping, mechanical design, environmental analysis, producibility analysis, or environmental testing. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Characteristics of a successful candidate include attention to detail, creativity, focus on customer expectation, willingness to work outside comfort-zone, and have effective written & presentation skills.
 

What You Will Do

  • Provide engineering experience in support of research, design, development, integration, and analysis of complex electro-mechanical products.
  • Perform 3D modeling, 2D drafting, and computer aided simulations of concept designs.
  • Create preliminary, draft, or final released technical data packages.
  • Identify problems or deficiencies that shall require configuration or procedural changes.
  • Prepare and review input to technical reports, letters, memoranda, bid proposals, white papers, and formal briefings.
  • Develop and execute product testing and integration plans for new or updated products.
  • Generate system-level requirements and requirements flow-down from system to sub-system, produce test plan and procedures, identify verification criteria, document issues, and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Analyze complex functions, procedures, and problems to find creative, logical, and effective solutions. 
  • Prepare task break-down, duration estimates, and project milestones during project planning.
  • Provide inputs to project managers and technical leads on programmatic and technical deliverables during program execution.
  • Educate and advise junior staff members in technical and procedural aspects of the team.
  • Interface with vendors and customers.
  • Comply with applicable AS9100 Quality procedures in the performance of duties.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What We Are Looking For: Minimum Qualifications

  • 9 years relevant experience with bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 4 years relevant experience with PHD or Juris Doctorate in related field.
  • Proficient in solid modeling and simulation tools such as SolidWorks CAD, Simulation, and Electrical Cable Routing.
  • Skilled performing structural shock & vibration and thermal Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using tools such as Ansys Mechanical Workbench and Icepak, or related.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Y14.100, ASME Y14.5, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standard practice.
  • Understanding of Military, ANSI, and IPC-620 standards.
  • Extensive experience in management of projects and teams A good candidate will show experience with RDT&E development with products in a compliance driven environment.
  • Knowledge of cable harness assembly materials and methods.
  • Experience interfacing with vendors and customers.
