Job Description

HII - Mission Technologies is looking to hire a motivated Corrosion Engineer to provide technical engineering expertise in support of the Army Futures Command and the Maintenance Engineering Division’s Corrosion, Coating, and Environmental Projects Team, in Corpus Christi, Texas.  The Maintenance Engineering Division is responsible for providing expert airworthiness engineering support for Army Aviation worldwide.   

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Support government engineers with expert advice, analysis, research, and technical guidance related to aviation maintenance engineering for rotary aircraft or unmanned aircraft systems specifically related to Corrosion, Coating Systems, and Environmental Projects.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant scientific principles, application methods/procedures, and integration of the same into engineering projects using systems, materials, electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering practices.


All candidates will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and drug screening per HII requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science with 2 years of experience or a Master’s of Science with 0 years of experience.  
  • Experienced in the prevention, mitigation, and management of corrosion on aviation weapons systems.
  • Experienced in the application of analytical skills to support and evaluate engineering dispositions.
  • Ability to evaluate technical documentation for adherence to policies, plans, procedures, and management requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate project work with little to no supervision. 
  • Ability to support a diverse portfolio of projects requiring the ability to establish priorities, interpret conflicting data, and redirect efforts with little forewarning.
  • Knowledge and experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, repair manuals, and technical reports.
  • Proficient in writing detailed technical substantiation analysis, reports, and briefings.
  • Possess strong listening, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Meet project travel requirements (approximately 10% of projects require travel)
  • Competence in MS Office and related software/programs.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Requirements

  • 5 years, or greater, of relevant engineering experience with a Bachelor or greater in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems or Materials Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of the scientific principles concerning the application, sustainment, and removal of aircraft coating systems.
  • Experience in providing expertise in compliance with environmental laws, mandates, and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels. 
  • Department of Defense Aviation Depot Maintenance repair or overhaul operations experience.
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Physical Requirements

Office and industrial environment. Capable of tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one-man lift.
