Summary:
What You Will Do:
The following duties represent a majority of the position’s key responsibilities. The Training Specialist will teach various space related courses which involves all activities required to accomplish preparation, direction, instruction, guidance and assessment of courses and initiatives at the NSSI. The Training Specialist will be responsible for the development of all course material with Government concurrence.
What We're Looking For:
- 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.
- Active DoD Top Secret w/Sensitive Compartmented Information TS/SCI clearance
- Skilled in presentation, teaching modalities (implementing exercises, case studies, interactive lectures, etc.), classroom management.
- Skilled in ISD product development (lesson plans, visual aids graded measurements, etc.), development of teaching modalities, and the curriculum update process for in-residence, online and blended courses.
- Skilled in course survey and improvement.
- Master’s degree in STEM or space-related field or Master’s degree in national security- related or legal field or Master’s degree or equivalent (e.g. Military Command and Staff College or War College)
Preferred Requirements
- 10 years of teaching experience to include but not limited to Space Force or from another service (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force).
- Familiarity with the NSSI Learning Management Systems (Canvas and Echo 360) and online presentation, classroom management and relevant teaching modalities.
- Familiarity with the NSSI file structure for online classes and video recording.
- Familiarity with the NSSI course catalog.
- Skilled communicator
- Classroom instruction in an undergraduate and graduate-level setting, to include elective courses.
- Curriculum development using the Instructional System Design (ISD) process.
- Escort and introduce visiting lecturers.
- Read, analyze, and critique student assignments.
- Monitor, evaluate, tutor, counsel, grade and provide comprehensive feedback on student exercises and exams.
- Review all lesson materials to ensure compliance with ISD principles and principles of Foreign Disclosure (as required).
- Teach across the NSSI in numerous courses within their subject matter expertise and to stay current on lessons taught.
- Academic administration to include reports compilation, inputs to strategic and long-range plans, assist project officers, and other work as required by the Course Director.
- Assume Course Director role as required. (This is up to you, but sometimes this can be a sticking point for some that get hired)
- Ensure all lessons within the respective area are focused on meeting course objective(s), and that the area consists of instruction, which is current, to include current events, technological updates, relevant to students, and academically credible.
- Develop, evaluate, manage and implement courseware and curricula to include, but not limited to task analysis worksheets, lesson plans, syllabi, schedules, student visual aids, student aids, student study materials, student prerequisite materials, and ISD documentation.
- Research and study of materials outside of NSSI lesson materials.
- hardware and software to determine compatibility with current systems.
