Job Description
HII is recognized as one of America’s top large company employers and is driven by strong values and ethics that puts people’s safety and well-being first. HII’s Mission Technologies Division develops integrated solutions that enable today’s connected, all-domain force. The Cyber, EW and Space Group provides full-spectrum capabilities that address today’s rapidly changing, multi-domain global security threats and anticipate emerging threats.
The Multi-Domain Operations Analyst will support a growing portfolio of analytic capabilities serving various DoW and IC customers, including the Space Warfighting Analysis Center (SWAC), Space Security and Defense Program (SSDP), US Space Command, US Strategic Command, Air Force Studies and Analysis, and the Air Force Research Laboratory. The Analyst will perform a critical role within a team of modeling & simulation (M&S) experts by facilitating the translation and transformation of intelligence, operational concepts, and system performance to support development of quantitative system, engagement, and mission models used in simulation analysis. The Analyst will work alongside M&S engineers to interpret results, draw conclusions, and make recommendations to Government customers. Current lines of effort focus on all classes of threats to space systems, applying innovative approaches to joint mission thread/kill chain analyses and multi-domain campaign analysis.
The Analyst will work directly with subject matter experts, intelligence analysts, and Government customers to curate information to drive timely analysis in a dynamic environment. To collaborate with the team, the Analyst will adopt Model Based Systems Engineering principles and practices to enable precise communication of system behaviors, performance characteristics, interactions, and assumptions. Resulting analyses inform force design and CONOPS development for current and future DoW architectures.
The Analyst will prepare technical products, integrating efforts across mission partners, and interacting with Government customers. Strong communication skills are required to present novel technical concepts to a wide variety of audiences.
Government customers are primarily located in Reston, Colorado Springs, Dayton, Omaha, and Albuquerque. The Analyst must be willing to travel regularly to Government sites with Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Apply intelligence analysis methodologies to characterize and assess operational threats to space systems across multiple domains.
- Create, refine, and present data products with compelling narratives that provide analytically rigorous conclusions to both senior leaders and non-technical audiences
- Work efficiently alongside the Government, in cross-contractor teams, and individually, to identify analytic needs, decompose strategic questions into tactical problem sets, and interpret quantitative results.
- Provide quantitative answers to challenging, space systems-focused questions.
- Support subject matter experts who advise senior leaders on methodological, analytical, and domain-specific issues.
- Analyze the accuracy of algorithms within modeling frameworks and collaborate to discover improvements.
- Assist the Portfolio Lead with the development of architectural and technical communication products.
- Possess technical fluency sufficient to engage with M&S engineers on model assumptions, data pipelines, and algorithmic implementations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Systems Engineering (or equivalent) or Operations Research/Mathematics (or equivalent).
- 15-20 years relevant experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
- Strong skills in research, critical thinking, and problem solving.
- Experience in independent Project Management.
- Must be SCI eligible (background investigation within last 5 years or in continuous monitoring) and able to work regularly in Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities.
- Must be willing to travel CONUS approximately 10% of the time.
Preferred Requirements
- Military operational experience with an understanding of space support to terrestrial operations, threats to space systems, and space control.
- Experience in modeling, simulating, and analyzing DoD systems at various levels of granularity (e.g. engagement, mission, campaign).
- Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering, SysML, and modeling tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler.
- Basic proficiency with scripting/programming languages and MS&A tools.
