Summary
Join our Elevator Support Unit (ESU)! The selected candidate will support ESU by working alongside experienced professionals as a Trades Assistant performing a variety of skilled trades, maintenance and technical tasks on aircraft carrier elevators, cargo handling systems and associated equipment, including aircraft elevators, weapons elevators and vertical stores conveyors. Your accomplishments will make a positive impact supporting the U.S. Navy and America’s national defense! Travel within and outside of the continental United States may be required. This is a full-time position, located in Chesapeake, VA.
What You Will Do
Assists workers in the skilled maintenance trades. Performs specific or general duties of lesser skill, such as supplying or holding materials and tools; cleaning working area, machine, and equipment; and performing other unskilled tasks as directed. Tasks vary. Position may perform specialized machine operations. Performs maintenance and minor repairs to various machines under supervision. May make local pick up and deliveries of supplies and company equipment and material, paint, lag, surface preparation and minor facilities maintenance. Check and return tools from tool room. Assists in receipt and inventory of material, tools and equipment.
What You Must Have
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid drivers license and must provide own hand tools.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain base access credentials.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Confidential Security clearance.
- Must be able to travel.
- Must have experience working in a team environment.
Preferred: Bonus Points For

Knowledge and/or experience in a trade's specialty in the following areas mechanical, electrical, electronic, welding, HVAC, and fitting.

Candidates with prior marine and/or industrial experience highly desired.

Weapons Elevator experience highly desired.

Prior experience on elevators or similar equipment is highly desired.

Current, active DoD confidential clearance or higher preferred.

Related technical training, degrees and/or certifications preferred.
