Who We Are

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking a General Maintenance Worker in Atlantic, NC. This position is responsible for performing a broad range of maintenance and repair tasks involving equipment, machinery, plumbing, electrical systems, vehicles, and facilities. The role requires strong practical skills and hands‑on experience.

 

Under general supervision, the General Maintenance Worker conducts routine, non‑specialized upkeep of target ranges and associated support facilities. 

 

This is an hourly rate that pays $23.22/hr per CBA

What You Will Do

  • Performs general building maintenance, including painting, welding, carpentry, masonry repairs, structural modifications within designated target areas, and minor electrical repairs as assigned.
  • Conducts corrosion control tasks and completes minor equipment and facility repairs.
  • Maintains grounds across all sites, including grass cutting and weed control.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on the main building air‑conditioning system and replaces light fixtures as needed.
  • Conducts minor maintenance and repair of contractor‑ and government‑owned vehicles, including oil changes, cleaning, washing, and waxing.
  • Assists the HVAC/Ground Power Mechanic at MCOLF and JAXDET with maintenance functions as required.
  • Dismantles machinery or equipment under supervision to replace defective parts or motors.
  • Cleans and lubricates machine components such as shafts, pulleys, gears, and bearings, and replaces machine belts.
  • Removes dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from machines to maintain proper operating conditions.
  • Applies protective coatings and paint to machinery or equipment to prevent corrosion.
  • Cuts, bends, and threads pipe; creates openings in walls, ceilings, and floors to install piping.
  • Patches and replaces plaster as needed.
  • Clears clogged drains and replaces basic plumbing fixtures.
  • Supports mission operations by assisting with the movement of range assets.
  • Provides courier pickup and delivery services as required.
  • Coordinates the procurement or arrangement of POL for vehicles at MCOLF and JAXDET.
  • Performs janitorial and custodial duties as assigned.
  • Completes all assigned training and ensures documentation is properly recorded, including monthly CTTR training in SharePoint, government training in TWMS, and any other assigned one‑time training.
  • Accurately documents all work performed in the IEMS system.
  • Works according to schedules established by management based on mission requirements and fleet needs.
  • Supports mission readiness by adjusting work schedules as required to meet fleet operations and maintain crew rest standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
     

What You Must Have

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years related experience.
  • Candidate must have 2 years’ experience in the general maintenance field.
  • Candidate must be a US citizen. 
  • Candiidate must obtain and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Candidate must possess a valid state Driver’s License and be able to maintain.
  • Candidate must maintain current CPR/First Aid certification after hire.
  • Candidate may be required to obtain a Hazmat Endorsement on Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Physical Requirements

  • This position involves lifting and loading materials onto transport vehicles, sorting them by category, and placing them into designated government storage areas in accordance with established procedures.
  • When performing work, responsible for adhering to environmental, safety, and health standards related to the activity, including the wearing of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Must cease work and notify lead, supervisor, or manager of all unsafe conditions.
