Job Description
This is a contingent requistion to support the proposal requirements.
HII is seeking a Metal Machinist professional for a USG customer in the Northern Virginia area. You will lead a team of capable professionals tasked to manufacture components at prototype to low-volume production capacity for specialized devices and systems in a rapid development environment.
The successful candidate will fabricate precision mechanical components per drawings and/or CAD models and work closely with engineering to review designs and assess manufacturability.
*This role is contingent upon being awarded the contract.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Assist CNC operators with setup and troubleshooting as required. Train and instruct other employees when requested. Perform significant program edits to CNC programs when necessary. Utilize knowledge of working properties and machining processes for a wide variety of materials. May be required to grind own tools for special requirements. Work independently taking product from engineering drawings and CAD models to completed part. Collaborate with teammates to enhance product design, manufacturability, or maching approach.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years related experience or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years related experience.
- Must have an active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Poly
- 10 years of demonstrated experience setting up and operating CNC Mills & Lathes, manual lathes, manual mills, and/or various secondary equipment
- 5 years of demonstrated experience in mechanical skills instruction
- Successfully complete and maintain current Machine Certification from an apprentice program
- SolidWorks Professional certification, or experience with this program and able to quickly obtain Professional certification
