Summary

Come and Join the Carrier Availability Support Team (CAST) program! CAST is assigned to the CNO-sponsored availability to enhance Ship’s Force ability to improve the material conditions throughout the ship’s life cycle. CAST is a 4-person team comprised of specialists in the areas of Combat Systems (CS), Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE), Propulsion Plant, and Hull Mechanical and Electrical Systems (HM&E). They have a wealth of maintenance shipyard experience with mitigating scheduling conflicts as well as working knowledge with various shipyard codes and maintenance organization processes. This position is located in Bremerton, WA.

What You Will Do

  • Prepares and coordinates the plans and schedules for new or existing programs. Determines, monitors, and reviews costs, operational budgets and schedules, and manpower requirements.

  • Supports and participates in negotiations with customer.

  • Analyzes effects of projects upon various areas such as Engineering, Facilities, and the labor pool to determine the most practical and cost-efficient methods to obtain the required resources.

  • Resolves proposal preparation problems and assesses the progress against established plans and parameters.

  • Formulates and recommends corrective action measures such as schedule revisions, manpower adjustments, fund allocations, and work requirements.

  • The selected candidate will provide technical support for availability planning, execution, and development of Ship’s Force work packages and overall, Depot Availability Work integration and scheduling onboard Aircraft Carriers.

  • Provide training, recommendations, and guidance to Ship’s Force personnel in industrial availability management, work package development and Ship’s Force Production Teams’ composition and tracking.

  • Develop and maintain availability measures of effectiveness.

What you must have

  • 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
  • Must have a strong background associated with the shipboard systems and must have experience on the Availability project team.
  • The position requires a strong technical writing ability and proven capability to communicate effectively to all levels of the Chain of Command.
  • Computer skills must include proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access).
  • Must be a US Citizen and have a current, active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred: Bonus Points For

  • Experience in a Senior role in Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) or Aviation Fuels equipment maintenance procedures on a CVN.
  • Previous experience providing technical support for availability planning, execution, and development of Ship's Force work packages. 

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
