This opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. All-Domain Operations comprises multi-domain operations, platforms and logistics, and intelligence operations.

Who We Are
HII–Mission Technologies Division is seeking skilled Air Mission Planners to join our team at Beale AFB, California, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping mission success for the Department of Defense. As an Aircraft Sensor & Mission Planner, you serve as the critical link between strategic objectives and tactical execution, guiding complex operations with insight and precision. More than a planner, you are a trusted advisor and the architect behind each mission’s effectiveness. From identifying initial requirements to contributing to post‑mission debriefs, you will assess intricate systems and processes to ensure every sortie is carried out with uncompromising accuracy, safety, and compliance.
What You Will Do
- Mission Architecture: Identify mission requirements and mitigate limiting factors to design viable operational, training, test, and exercise sorties
- Strategic Compliance: Ensure all planning adheres strictly to published guidance, directives, and DoD instructions
- Full-Spectrum Planning: Manage the critical variables of flight operations, including target development, weather analysis, airspace coordination, and diplomatic clearances
- Threat Mitigation: Integrate intelligence data to develop robust threat mitigation strategies and secure communication plans
- Technical Oversight: Monitor maintenance status, manage aircraft files, and oversee the integration of sensor and mission systems.
- Continuous Improvement: Conduct post-mission debriefs and analyze performance data to refine future aircraft navigation, routing, and solutions
- Aviation Expertise: Deep knowledge of aviation operations, federal/military regulations, and mission-planning software
- Analytical Rigor: The ability to evaluate complex systems and solve integration problems within a high-stakes environment
- Strategic Vision: Experience in long-term project work for the DoD, with a focus on aircraft performance and sensor capabilities
- Clearance & Communication: Strong briefing skills and the ability to act as a liaison between technical maintenance crews, aircrews, and client leadership
What We Are Looking For
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint or Excel
- Ability to travel/deploy to forward operating locations for up to 90 days at a time
- Must obtain and maintain a valid US Passport
- TS/SCI clearance
Multiple levels available:
- Level 2 - 3 years of relevant experience with bachelor's in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years relevant experience
- Level 3 - 6 years of relevant experience with bachelor's in related field; 4 years of experience with master's in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience
- Level 4 - 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience
Preferred Requirements
- Experience as a rated instructor or evaluator
- Experience as a qualified Pilot, Navigator, Combat Systems Officer, Air Battle Manager, Mission Planner, or Sensor Planner
- Experience with flight planning software, including:
- Air Force Mission Support System
- Omniview
- Joint Mission Planning System
- Portable Flight Planning Software
- Aviation Mission Planning System
- Experience with Open Mission Systems or Universal Command and Control Interface
- Experience with DOD Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Operations
- Experience with Air Operations Center or Distributed Common Ground System
- Experience with Web-based flight planning, including ForeFlight or SkyVector
- Graduate of a USAF Weapons School
- Completion of 500+ total flight hours in support of DoD mission operations
- Valid US Passport
