Job Description

The successful candidate can work remotely but must reside WITHIN the state of Maine.

 

HII is looking for a Cross Domain Network Engineer on our team, you’ll help the DoD deploy a reliable network to support national defense. You’ll work with our customer to learn the strategic goals and operational needs that shape the network requirements. You’ll then plan the acquisition, installation, configuration, and maintenance of the network components. From resolving interoperability issues across platforms, to supporting the acquisition of hardware, you’ll put your hardware and software talents to good use. You will accomplish work without considerable direction and look for ways to improve infrastructure performance using the latest technology and best practices. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Designs and plans network systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network systems. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
  • Define, drive, and manage the enterprise data governance implementation roadmap, including strategic priorities for the development of data management capabilities. 
  • Collaborate with IT teams to establish data governance tools, technologies, and infrastructure required to support data governance initiatives. 
  • Increase team knowledge of the network by turning metrics into information and explaining their meaning. 
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of data dictionaries, data lineage diagrams, KPI catalogs, and other comprehensive data documentations which affect ways of working. 
  • Conduct data quality risk audits to assess data quality, identify data gaps, and recommend corrective actions to improve data integrity and consistency. 
  • Define and implement data classification and sensitivity frameworks to manage data access, retention, and disposal. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
  • Experience with managing virtual machines, software defined switching, and policy creation using VMware ESXi or vCenter 
  • Knowledge of NIPR/SIPR networks 
  • Knowledge of planning and implementing Layer 2 and 3 network architecture, access controls, and associated polices using multiple vendor components. 
  • Knowledge of bi-directional network transfer systems, Network Attached Storage design patterns, RMF, and applying security controls. 
  • Knowledge of Linux or Cisco firewalls, networking configuration, LDAP, Certificates, and Domain Name System 
  • Knowledge of DoD networks 
  • Candidate must have an active SECRET clearance to start

Preferred Requirements

  • TS or TS/SCI clearance a plus 
  • DoD 8570.1 IAT Level II Compliant Certification a plus  
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux or CentOS 

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
