Summary
HII Mission Technologies is seeking an F‑16 Mission Tactics Trainer (MTT) COMS Manager to lead communications and networking maintenance support across the F‑16 MTT enterprise. The COMS Manager oversees distributed COMS leads and technicians responsible for communication systems, networking infrastructure, cybersecurity compliance, and configuration management across multiple F‑16 MTT sites. This role ensures the readiness, reliability, and secure operation of F‑16 simulators in support of Air National Guard aircrew training. #LI-MJ1
This role is based in Atlantic City, New Jersey, but may be performed at any F‑16 MTT program installation training site, including: Tucson, Arizona (Morris Air National Guard Base); Mesa, Arizona (Mesa Air National Guard Base); Homestead, Florida (Homestead Air Reserve Base); Andrews AFB, Maryland (Camp Springs / Clinton, MD area); Buckley AFB, Colorado (Aurora, CO); Hill AFB, Utah (Ogden, UT); and Kelly Field, San Antonio, Texas (JBSA–Lackland).
Impact
Your leadership ensures the F‑16 MTT training devices remain fully operational, secure, and aligned with mission requirements. By managing distributed COMS teams, overseeing configuration control, and supporting troubleshooting efforts, you directly strengthen pilot training capability and mission readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise COMS leads across distributed F‑16 MTT locations; ensure effective communications and networking system maintenance.
- Support technicians in diagnosing and resolving initialization or operational issues during training events.
- Apply advanced troubleshooting and system-level expertise to resolve complex technical problems.
- Coordinate closely with the CLS Manager and site leads to support communications maintenance activities across the fleet.
- Interpret mechanical, electrical, and electronic schematics and produce simplified versions when needed.
- Provide networking and information systems support for training devices and associated networks.
- Work with the ISSM/ISSO to ensure maintenance activities align with RMF controls, JSIG guidance, cybersecurity policies, and approved change management processes.
- Maintain configuration status awareness of communications systems; document changes in accordance with configuration management procedures.
- Validate accuracy of maintenance data collection entries.
- Enforce health, safety, facility, and security procedures in support of personnel and equipment well-being.
- Deliver periodic reports and briefings to Government stakeholders, senior leaders, and team members in person and via Microsoft Teams.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What you must have
- 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s in a related field; OR
- 7 years with a Master’s; OR
- 4 years with a PhD/JD; OR
- 13 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma/GED.

Current CompTIA Security+ certification, or another DoD 8570 IAT Level II – equivalent certification.
- Experience supporting F‑16 Aircrew or Maintenance Training Systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, safety guidance, and procedural documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe products.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Strong organizational and teamwork skills.
- Current or active DoD Secret security clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Special Access Program (SAP) environments.
- Experience with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities or working with ISSM/ISSO teams.
- Familiarity with network architectures, including switches, routers, VLANs, and distributed simulation networks.
- Prior hands‑on experience with F‑16 avionics, communication systems, or datalinks (e.g., Link‑16, SADL).
- Experience supporting mission training devices or distributed training operations (e.g., MTT, MTC, DMO).
- Certification such as CCNA, Network+, or another advanced cybersecurity or networking credential.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift at least 40 pounds overhead.
- Ability to support flexible schedules based on customer requirements.
- Ability to walk, climb stairs/ladders into simulators or cockpit enclosures.
- Ability to stoop, bend, and access areas on top of or beneath devices.
- Ability to detect odors, noises, and anomalies associated with simulator performance.
- Ability to distinguish colors for safety, wiring, and indicator verification.
