Program of Instruction (POI)

This is an UNPAID internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. DoD SkillBridge Internships are available to help transitioning active-duty military personnel gain real-world experience in the work force sometime during their final 180 days of active-duty service. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. HII Mission Technologies Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

For this internship, the SkillBridge intern will train as a Project Manager with HII Mission Technologies, reporting to a designated HII Mission Technologies Supervisor, with the primary goal of exposing the intern to DoD CIO Electromagnetic Spectrum Enterprise Policy and Programs (EMSEPP) supporting Goal 2, (Infrastructure, Architecture & Data), and Goal 3, (Workforce & Readiness).  A secondary goal is to achieve a cross-organizational understanding of the office matrix and interplay. Additionally offering the SkillBridge Intern the opportunity to work alongside subject matter experts and assist in providing critical support to our clients. Our experts will provide on-the-job training, and ensure interns complete our program with the confidence to accurately apply and perform the skills learned in this internship throughout their future careers. This internship not only provides you the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a professional environment, but also allows you a look at what HII Mission Technologies can offer you as an employee.

Desired End State (3 - 4 month target)

At the end of four months, the intern will be able to describe core functions of project management (as well as other supporting functions), have a basic knowledge of requirements associated with Cyber Space, Training, and Readiness.
The intern should develop and understanding of the Joint Operational Training Infrastructure
The intern will be oriented to the Military Training Capability Group Support   
The intern will be trained Education, Training and Readiness Capability Development
The intern will support IT Modernization, and Mission Data Integration
Mission Technologies will benefit from the military background of the SkillBridge intern and considers the SkillBridge internship an overall positive experience. 


Assumptions - Restrictions

SkillBridge Intern will possess at minimum an Active Secret Security Clearance. 

SkillBridge Intern will be available during core hours for critical meetings and training.

Week 2: Intro to Workforce Readiness
Week 3: Intro to Military Training Capability Group
Week 4: Intro to Joint Operational Training Infrastructure Strategy Implementation
Week 5: Intro to Education, Training and Readiness Capability Development
Week 6: Intro to EMSE Workforce Policy

Phase 2 – EMSEPP Goal 2 Infrastructure, Architecture & Data
Week 7: Intro to Infrastructure, Architecture & Data
Week 8: Intro to Goal 2 I-Plan Oversight and Roadmap Development
Week 9: Intro to EMS Architecture(s) - EMSEA
Week 10: Intro to Mission Data Integration 
Week 11: Intro to MOSA Implementation & Technology Compatibility
Week 12: Intro to AI-ML / Cloud Integration
Week 13: Review of previous 12 weeks and conclusion of internship

Minimum Qualifications

Active-Duty Military ONLY within final 180 days of active-duty service. Education and Experience dependent on Program of Instruction.

Must have a current/active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Requirements

Transitioning US military service member with program/project experience and technical background
