Job Description

 

Join the growing Warfare Systems Business Group at HII-Mission Technologies! We are seeking a Cloud Application Engineer (Software Development Analyst) to support the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), Office of the CIO, in support of the Foreign Military Sales Case Development Modernization effort.

 

In this role, you will design, develop, deploy, and support modern web applications hosted in AWS GovCloud.  The position has a strong emphasis on building intuitive, responsive React.js Single Page Applications (SPAs), while requiring the full-stack and cloud engineering skills necessary to integrate, deploy, and operate those applications in AWS.

 

You will work across the application stack – including user experience, frontend architecture, APIs, authentication and authorization, cloud services, containerized workloads, data persistence, deployment, and operational troubleshooting.  The idea candidate is a front-end-focused engineer with AWS deployment experience.

Essential Job Responsibilities

 

  • Researches, designs, develops, and/or modifies enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software.
  • Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards.
  • Evaluates interface between hardware and software, operational requirements, and characteristics of overall system. 
  • Documents testing and maintenance of system corrections
  • Design and develop modern web applications using TypeScript, React, and Material UI (MUI) per DSCA standards, with an emphasis on responsive, accessible, and intuitive user experiences.
  • Develop and integrate REST APIs and backend services, relational databases, object storage, and other AWS application services required to support the application.
  • Build, deploy, and operate containerized applications in AWS.
  • Support modern software delivery practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, code review, and application observability.
  • Collaborate with product, platform, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, and data teams throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through deployment and production support.
  • Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, implementation, code review, automated testing, deployment, documentation, and production support.
  • Evaluate new technologies and development approaches and recommend pragmatic improvements to application architecture and engineering practices.

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Strong proficiency in React and modern frontend application architecture.
  • Experience programming in TypeScript.
  • Experience with Material UI (MUI), TanStack Query, and Fastify.
  • Experience with REST API development and integration with front-end applications.
  • Experience developing and deploying applications in AWS and integrating with AWS services.
  • Solid understanding of Agile and iterative development methodologies.
  • Experience working with stakeholders to translate business processes into software requirements and solutions.
  • Ability to work independently while thriving in collaborative team settings.
  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain an active Secret clearance at the time of consideration
  • Remote-eligible position; must align with Eastern Time Zone core business hours

 

Software Development Analyst II

2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience. 

Software Development III 

5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience. e.

Preferred Requirements

 

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Experience developing and operating production applications in AWS, preferably AWS GovCloud.
  • Experience with containerized applications and orchestration, including Docker and Amazon EKS.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL/Amazon RDS, Amazon S3, and other AWS application services.
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications and implementing secure, enterprise-grade solutions in DoD or federal environments.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and version control (Git).
  • Experience in SAFe Agile environments, including participation in PI planning and Scrum/Kanban ceremonies.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver maintainable, user-focused web applications

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods while working at a computer.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment to perform analytical tasks.

  • Ability to review, analyze, and interpret digital data for extended periods with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Occasional light lifting of documents or equipment up to 10 lbs, if needed for home-office setup.
  • Must maintain a home-work environment that meets company and government security requirements (e.g., controlled space for handling sensitive or FOUO information, if applicable).
  • Must be able to work assigned East Coast core business hours to support program and customer requirements.
