Huntington Ingalls Industries- Technical Solutions Division's (HII-TSD) Cyber/Intel Business Unit is looking for a Software Architect to lead a team of software developers in implementing the Open Command and Control (OpenC2) for our customer in the Annapolis Junction, MD area.

 

OpenC2 defines a language at a level of abstraction that will enable unambiguous command and control of cyber defense technologies. The Software Architect functions as the overall lead for all task software development activities, to include functioning as the primary POC with customer Subject Matter Expert (SME) / technical lead. The Software Architect defines software products, goals, and requirements; guides the software development team in defining product architectures; coaches individual developers as needed, and plans and facilitates team and program demonstration events.

This Software Architect will also supports Systems Engineering activities with the customer SME; conducts product reviews and provides feedback when requested and participates in OpenC2 standards development. The Software Architect reviews, comments, and contributes content to in-development OASIS specifications and presents technical proposals to Technical Committee and Sub-Committee meetings, and at face-to-face meetings with the customer.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Serves as Software development lead for OpenC2 / cybersecurity automation tools
  • Develops Software architecture for an OpenC2 reference implementation environment, and adjust the architecture to evolving requirements
  • Defines software products, goals, and requirements
  • Guides the Software development team in defining and implementing product architectures
  • Interprets OASIS OpenC2, other cybersecurity automation (e.g., CACAO), and common industry specifications (e.g., messaging protocols) and guides development team in implementing those specifications within the reference environment
  • Reviews issues identified in OASIS OpenC2 specification development and provide implementation-focused feedback to the specification development process
  • Guides the software development team in establishing and improving the development and test environment, including use of HII-owned capabilities and export to open-source sharing environments (e.g., GitHub)
  • Plans and facilitates team and program demonstration events, including OpenC2-related interoperability demonstration and testing events (e.g., “plugfests”)
  • Participates in technical interchanges with OpenC2 community participants to assess and resolve issues regarding OpenC2 functionality and interoperability
  • Mentors’ software development team and coach’s’ individual developers as needed
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • 15 years of experience with a bachelors degree, or 19 years of relevant experience with a HS diploma.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience in systems analysis and/or programming required with project management and leadership
  • United States Citizenship is required 

Preferred Requirements

  • Masters’ degree in Computer Science (CS), Information System Management (ISM), Engineering Management or Computer Programming.
  • Schemas (JSON, XML, etc)
  • Language and Frameworks (Python, JavaScript frameworks (e.g., REACT)
  • Specification Implementation (going from words/ideas to usable code)
  • Usability minded (guide things to what will/should work rather than have it be a future problem) (addition to third bullet?)
  • Security Clearance or ability to obtain one
