HII- Technical Solutions Division (TSD) is currently seeking a Software Security Engineer in either their San Antonio, TX or Annapolis Junction, MD location, who will work with our software development teams and data scientists to develop architectures and applications for the DoD using a DevSecOps methodology. The Software Security Engineer will work closely with our product teams by pair programming and leveraging their strong communication skills to ensure that security best practices are applied to the products being created by the development teams.

 

The ideal candidate will be able to advise product teams as the best practices in handling large and complex data sets and help data scientists convert proof of concept solutions into fast and efficient production‐ready systems.

  • Engineering, implementing, and monitoring security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information
  • Identifying and defining system security requirements
  • Provide engineering designs for new software solutions to help mitigate security vulnerabilities
  • Designing computer security architecture and developing detailed cyber security designs
  • Perform on-going security testing and code review to improve software security
  • Participate in incident handling
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues that arise
  • Contribute to all levels of the architecture
  • Maintain technical documentation
  • Consult with team members on secure coding practices

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software or Electrical Engineering, or similar technical degree and 14+ years experience with a Bachelors or 12+ with a Masters
  • Minimum 9 years of relevant software security work experience
  • Experience with both lean startup and agile software development
  • Experience with security principles
  • Experience with antivirus software, intrusion detection, firewalls, and content filtering
  • Knowledge of risk assessment tools, technologies, and methods
  • Experience with designing secure networks, systems, and application architectures
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery, computer forensic tools, technologies and methods
  • Experience with planning, researching, and developing security policies, standards, and procedures
  • You have professional experience in a system administration role supporting multiple platforms and applications
  • Ability to communicate network security issues to peers and management
  • Ability to read and use the results of dynamic code analysis, static code analysis, and antivirus software 
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance which would require US Citizenship 

 

Preferred Requirements

  • Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field
  • AWS cloud security experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with the ability to present technical data and approaches to both technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Experience in working with NoSQL databases
  • Background designing and developing dashboards and other data products
