Who we are

Huntington Ingalls Industries – Technical Solutions Division (HII-TSD) is seeking a Project Manager to support National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).  The Project Manager will manage multiple Task Orders and lead the planning and execution of projects from initiation through close out. Duties include the development of integrated project schedules, budget, resource plans, and deliverables. Provide weekly and monthly project MSRs, including financial reporting for management and client audiences. Works with the COR on a monthly to discuss progress, issues reported, and plans for upcoming months.

 

You will work on customer site, and/or out of the HII-TSD HQ building located in Annapolis Junction. Remote working option as needed.

What you will do

  • Fully support NIST task orders by supervising and directing the daily activities of the contract team.
  • Serve as the company’s primary point of contact for your specific project-related items and appropriately manage personnel, sub-contractors, performance, scope, schedule, and budget matters for the company’s contract support team.
  • Provide overall technical and financial management of tasks, and milestones associated with contractual agreements.
  • Evaluate progression of project milestones and budget and to modify work as applicable to ensure overall project quality, schedule, and budget are on track as expected.
  • Regularly engage with key government client stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development of monthly progress reports detailing work performed, schedule of activities, and issues/concerns arising or potentially arising in the following month’s efforts.
  • Facilitate the development of information deliverables for a contract in support of NIST.

What we are looking for

  • At least four 4 years of general Project Management experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Finance, Project Management, Business, Engineering, or a mathematics-intensive discipline or a related field 
  • At least 4 years IT experience in computer security. Experience includes increasing responsibilities in information systems design and management.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to use Microsoft Project to demonstrate project performance.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of Project Management Institute (PMI) processes and best practices for lifecycle project management.
  • Must have MS Office skills including MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project. Have previous experience developing and maintaining project schedules using MS Project.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills for frequent interaction with team members, managers, and clients.
  • Due to the nature of the work we do at HII-TSD, all employees must be U.S. Citizens. No clearance is required for this position.

  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
  • Experience managing performance-based projects and/or programs.
  • Previous NIST experience managing projects or supporting NIST work.
  • Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and technology organizations.
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence.
  • Build and maintain relationships by engaging business leaders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus and achieve objectives.
  • Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands.
  • Demonstrated communication skills; both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff, all levels of management.

  • Proven ability to learn, understand and apply new technologies.
