This opportunity resides with Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Position Summary:

HII-Mission Technologies is seeking a Information System Security Officer to provide system security support in our Annapolis Junction, MD office. As our new ISSO you will maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. This may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. Each day you will interact with users and evaluate vendor products, making recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinating installation and providing backup recovery. You will also have opportunities for increased responsibility, like developing policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

What you will do:

 

  • The primary responsibilities will be to perform Information System Security Officer (ISSO) tasks related to the implementation of security controls, perform and document continuous monitoring of security controls, review of audit logs, application of software updates and patches, perform system backups, maintain system documentation, maintain user accounts, and coordinate with the cognizant security approving authorities to maintain system accreditation. 
  • These ISSO tasks will be applied to a networked system of computers comprised of Microsoft Windows servers, workstations, thin clients and network switches. Practical application of networked systems along with any required coordination will be necessary.
  • The ISSO will need to keep system accreditation, continuous monitoring, and software inventory applications/databases updated
     

What we are looking for:

 

  • 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
  • Degree(s) must be in engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics or a related discipline. In some cases, work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.
  • Must possess an active TOP SECRET and SCI clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation being less than five years old. An active polygraph is also required.
  • Background in one or more of the following: system administration, computer security, cybersecurity methodology, IT risk management tools, certification and accreditation through ICD-503, DISA STIG or NIST information system security controls. 
  • Experience in configuring and maintaining Windows Server 2019 and 2022 and Windows 10 or 11 operating systems; including Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, Remote Desktop Services.  
  • Must possess an IT certification, Security+ or CISSP.  
  • Basic knowledge of IT networks.
  • Effective customer and organizational level communication, written, presentation and interpersonal skills.
     

Bonus points for:

 

  • Familiarity with Nessus preferred.
  • Network+ certification is preferred
