Job Description
Mission Technologies is seeking a mid to senior-level IT Systems Administrator to join our Space Protection and Response solution team at Kirtland AFB. This onsite role is essential to maintaining and securing both Windows and Linux systems across virtual, standalone, and cloud environments.
We're looking for someone with strong problem-solving skills, independence, and the ability to collaborate with leadership in a secure facility setting.
Essential Job Responsibilities
• Manage and maintain secure computing environments handling both classified and unclassified data across standalone Windows and Linux systems.
• Perform advanced system administration tasks, software diagnostics, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal system performance.
• Develop comprehensive IT operating procedures, technical documentation, and baseline configuration guides to support standardization and compliance.
• Administer and secure virtualized environments using VMware, applying STIGs and industry best practices for hardening Linux and Windows images.
• Support operation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of standalone laptops and systems, including OS imaging, application deployment, and configuration.
• Build and distribute custom operating system images to ensure consistent system setups across standalone platforms.
• Implement and maintain baseline configurations and supported applications aligned with government security protocols.
• Ensure compliance with federal IT security mandates, policies, and procedures, contributing to robust cybersecurity posture.
Minimum Qualifications
3 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 1 year relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years relevant experience.
- Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility required.
- DoD 8570 compliant certification required (SEC+) and computing environment certification required
- Familiarity with Firewall technology & management of private LANs/networks
- Familiarity with network protocols and network management technologies
- Skill utilizing software diagnostic tools and the ability to conduct appropriate troubleshooting processes and conduct appropriate upgrades
- Ability to work independently, be self-directed and make sound decisions based on customer satisfaction
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Knowledge of Windows and Linux Server Operating Systems
- Advanced troubleshooting skills; diagnosing and resolving issues
Preferred Requirements
• Information Technology degree with 6+ years of experience
• Certifications such as A+, Microsoft, Linux, Cloud, or Virtualization.
• Experience collaborating with Information System Security Managers and Officers to enforce IT security policies.
• Familiarity with media protection practices, including secure data wiping and degaussing in accordance with DoD security standards.
• Ability to perform vulnerability scans using approved security tools.
• Experience resolving POA&M items through patching and customized software configurations.
• Support for Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities and security assessments of IT environments.
