HII Mission Technologies is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to support critical electrical systems for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Air Delivered Capabilities Directorate at Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, NM. This position provides essential electrical engineering support for the NDW portfolio, including the Weapon Storage and Security System (WS3), Vault Modernization Program (VMP), and Disablement Management System (DMS) programs, ensuring reliable and secure electrical systems for nuclear weapons storage and security operations.

Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!

•    •    Establish design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for electrical product research, development, integration, and test for defense systems
•    Produce engineering documentation, reports, and drawings in support of design, development, production, and testing
•    Identify and resolve complex electrical engineering issues for nuclear weapons systems
•    Document and recommend solutions to electrical components, systems, and products
•    Analyze electronic circuits through simulation and/or analysis to recommend component substitutions or redesign solutions
•    Identify program problems and assist in establishing solutions and improved processes
•    Provide support in maintaining and improving the design of existing electrical components, systems, and products
•    Identify, analyze, and resolve obsolescence issues for aging electrical systems
•    Plan, perform, and direct engineering activities to ensure design, production, and testing conform to design specifications and requirements
•    Gather, compile, and maintain technical data including test results, engineering design changes, engineering drawings, and engineering documentation for analysis and evaluation
•    Participate in program reviews and interact, communicate, and present to stakeholders
•    Perform and provide engineering analysis and evaluation for electrical systems
•    Review and provide inputs to test plans/procedures and reports, technical data packages, and engineering related program documentation
•    Support test execution and witnessing for electrical systems validation
•    Conduct system maintenance and troubleshooting for electrical components
•    Support configuration control and risk management activities
•    Support the research, planning, design, development, testing and evaluation of electrical components, systems, and products for WS3, VMP, and DMS programs
•    Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including military, civilian, and contractor personnel supporting nuclear weapons systems
•    Ensure compliance with nuclear certification processes and safety requirements
•    Support sustainment engineering activities for deployed nuclear weapons storage systems

Requirements: I have already done that or have it!

•    5 years relevant experience with Bachelor's in related field or 3 years relevant experience with Master's in related field
•    Must possess and maintain SECRET security clearance
•    Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
•    Minimum of 5 years of experience designing, developing, building, analyzing, testing and maintaining electrical and electronic systems
•    Demonstrated expertise in electrical engineering concepts and processes
•    Experience with electrical component design, analysis, and testing
•    Knowledge of electronic circuit design, simulation, and analysis tools
•    Proficiency in electrical engineering software and design tools
•    Experience with electrical system troubleshooting and problem resolution
•    Understanding of electrical safety standards and regulatory compliance
•    Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and technical documentation
•    Experience with test equipment and measurement instrumentation
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex electrical systems
•    Technical writing and documentation skills
•    Understanding of ITAR and export control regulations for defense systems
•    Ability to work effectively in team environments with diverse technical disciplines

Preferred Requirements

•   Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university AND 8+ years of electrical engineering experience
•    3+ years supporting Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center or similar nuclear weapons programs
•    Experience with nuclear weapons storage and security systems electrical components
•    Knowledge of Weapon Storage and Security Systems (WS3) or similar critical infrastructure
•    Experience with NATO-approved electrical systems and international defense cooperation
•    Background in nuclear certification processes and electrical safety systems
•    Experience with power systems, control systems, and instrumentation for critical applications
•    Knowledge of obsolescence management and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS)
•    Experience with electrical system modernization and technology refresh programs
•    Familiarity with DoD electrical engineering standards and military specifications
•    Professional Engineer (PE) license
•    Experience with underground vault electrical systems and secure facility power distribution
•    Knowledge of intrusion detection systems (IDS) electrical components
•    Familiarity with European NATO locations and Host Nation electrical interfaces
•    Experience with classified electrical systems and air-gapped environments
•    Understanding of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) requirements

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
