This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems.

Summary
HII, Mission Technologies is seeking highly motivated undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics to support our work with the U.S. Army Research Laboratory in Adelphi, Maryland.
Selected candidates will support Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) studies and analyses for Defense Systems. Will work alongside scientists and engineers on real-world technical challenges that directly support the U.S. Army’s mission.
This position is onsite and located in Adelphi, Maryland.
What you will do
- Research, design, develop, and test advanced Radio Frequency (RF) systems.
- Support the development of next-generation radar, spectrum sensing, and communications capabilities.
- Test and measure RF systems on the bench using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers.
- Participate in field-experiments and data collection events.
- Apply signal processing techniques to extract key features from collected data.
- Develop data visualizations for live real-time data streams.
What we are looking for (minimum requirements)
- High School Diploma or equivalent + must be working towards a Bachelor's degree with more than 60% of the required credits completed.
- U.S. citizenship (required to access government facilities and projects).
- Strong background in engineering, science, experimentation, or research.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in at least one programming language.
- Minimum 3.50 GPA in major.
Preferred Requirements
- Radar, spectrum sensing, and communication systems
- Digital signal processing, Fourier theory, complex analysis
- Lab experience using RF test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, vector network analyzer, etc.)
- Embedded system development (e.g. Arduino, Raspberry Pi, FPGA)
- Software defined radio (e.g. Ettus, Adalm Pluto, RTL-SDR)
- Linux
- AI/ML: PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc
