HII has been helping the U.S. military safety deliver the materiel they need across the globe for decades. The Technical Support department is currently seeking a procurement professional to join our team working out of HII Technical Solutions corporate office in Virginia Beach, VA. Responsibilities include working with U.S. government material procurement, tracking & updating material orders and processing justification requirements to meet Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and/or Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFAR) clauses, all while effectively communicating with team members and working within the boundaries of the contract requirements. Candidates who are detail-orientated self-starters with the skills necessary to mitigate procurement issues that can impact schedules and budgets will excel in this role. #LI-MJ1

What you will do

  • Sources, purchases, plans, and schedules the movement of raw materials, parts, components, services, supplies, finished goods and related material through production and inventory process.
  • Involved in front-end procurement cycle; will analyzes data and determines factors that affect selections of material.
  • Determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules and selects or recommends suppliers.
  • Responsible for following up on orders placed, and maintains necessary records of material movement throughout manufacturing and inventory cycle(s).
  • Coordinates and follows up with production, warehouse, and personnel to ensure appropriate procurement, scheduling, and/or movement of materials and services.
  • Will perform other related duties as assigned.

What we are looking for

  • Must have 3 years’ relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 1-year relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years’ relevant experience.

  • Must have prior experience writing justification statements with supporting documentation.

  • Must have knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and/or Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR).

  • Must have experience shipping and receiving material, supplies, Government Furnished Material and Customer acquired material

  • Must have experience reviewing and submitting purchasing orders.

  • Must have experience tracking material and updating related information pulled from documentation, budgets and quotes.

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)  

  • Must have a DoD secret security clearance and maintain throughout employment.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred: Bonus Points for...

  • Experience as a government purchasing rep desired.

  • Experience writing single and sole source justifications that meet the requirements of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) preferred.

  • Experienced with Import and Export requirements of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) preferred.

  • Experience requesting quotes or price comparisons a plus.

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment.
