Summary

This is an UNPAID internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. DoD SkillBridge Internships are available to help transitioning active-duty military personnel gain real-world experience in the work force sometime during their final 180 days of active-duty service. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. HII Mission Technologies (HII-MT) Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII-MT.

Program of Instruction

TRAINING LOCATION: Dayton, OH

 

Desired End State (3-4 month target)
At the end of four months, the intern will be able to develop skills needed to manage tools and equipment maintenance, inspection, calibration, and inventory programs, perform serviceability inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment, manage an Air Force Technical Order library, and other logistics support duties. 
The intern will develop a good understanding of logistics support basics. This includes:
- Familiarization, maintenance, and inspection of specialized test and support equipment.
- Planning and scheduling of tools and equipment calibrations, inventories, and maintenance/repair/replacement.
- Collaboration/Coordination with users to provide logistic support activities and equipment to meet mission requirements.
- Mission Technologies will benefit from the military background of the SkillBridge intern and considers the SkillBridge internship an overall positive experience.

 

Assumptions/Restrictions
SkillBridge Intern will possess at minimum an Active Top-Secret SCI Security Clearance.
SkillBridge Intern will be available during core hours for critical meetings and training.

 

Training Plan
Phase 1 - Basics

Week 1: In processing, Introductions/office familiarization.
Week 2: Introduction to the Maintenance, Inspection, and Inventory Plan, Logistics Support & Materiel Management requirements, and other operating, reporting, and documentation standards.
Week 3: Tools, Support Equipment (SE), and Test, Measurement, & Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) familiarization and inspection/maintenance requirements.
Week 4: United States Air Force Technical Order (TO) library management fundamentals and requirements.

 

Phase 2 – Logistics Support Operations
Week 5: Hoist and crane, lifting equipment, and vehicle requirements and inspections.
Week 6: Foreign Materiel inventory operations.
Week 7: Manage the TC-MAX electronic tool accountability system.
Week 8: Manage tool accountability programs (tool kits, spare tools, broken tools, warranty tools). Evaluate & process requests for new tools, TMDE, and SE.
Week 9: Manage operational spaces used for storage of equipment, parts, and supplies.
Week 10: Manage document control program and classified material shipping/receiving operations.

 

Phase 3 – Collaboration, Planning, Customer Feedback
Week 11: Identify mission equipment requirements and develop/execute logistics support plans.
Week 12: Forecast and communicate TMDE calibration schedules and status.
Week 13: Engage with customer for logistics support needs/feedback.

 

Additional Goals
Develop logistic support training material and conduct training.
Participate in mission planning meetings and provide feedback on tools, SE, and TMDE availability.

Minimum Qualifications

Active-Duty Military ONLY within final 180 days of active-duty service. Education and Experience dependent on Program of Instruction.

  • Must have TOP-SECRET SCI security clearance
  • 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.

Preferred Requirements

Familiarity with NASIC is a plus
