Mission Technologies, a division of HII, has an opportunity available for a Mechanical Engineer who will lead highly complex engineering design and analysis work related to researching, designing, and developing machines, mechanical products, tools, mechanical devices, aircraft structural components, and other mechanical items.

The candidate selected will work with senior technical-level personnel and program managers in the planning, oversight, and execution of complex and advanced projects related to system and technical product development. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Provide engineering expertise in support of design, development, integration, and analysis of mechanical components, products, and processes.
• Identify problems and/or deficiencies that shall require configuration or procedural changes and evaluate performance improvements to ensure functional systems meet operational and sustainment requirements. 
• Develop and conduct/oversee qualification testing requirements under military and commercial standards.  
• Apply advanced technical concepts, techniques, and procedures to support multiple project teams in the development and qualification of technical products.
• Perform complex engineering work in design, evaluation, planning, testing, and operation in support of program-level system and product development, engineering analysis, and research.
• Carry out complex assignments requiring the development of new research concepts or improvement of current techniques and procedures.
• Exercise independent judgment in conducting complex analyses and development efforts, and provides technical direction to other staff.
• Educate and advise junior technical staff members on the technical aspects of their efforts.  
• Prepare and review input to major technical reports, status reports, letters, technical memoranda, contract reports, bid proposals, whitepapers, and formal briefings.
• Develop relevant briefings and specific project proposals and work through appropriate channels to schedule presentation of these briefings and proposals to prospective customers.
• Comply with applicable ISO9001 and AS9100 Quality procedures in the performance of duties.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's in related field; 3 years relevant experience with a Master's in related field.
• Demonstrated command of engineering principles, methods, and techniques in more than one area of expertise.
• Experience with AutoCad and SolidWorks at a high level of proficiency.
• Knowledge of relevant tools and equipment used to make accurate and relevant measurements such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, pin gauges and other equipment.
• Effective customer and organizational level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.

Preferred Requirements

• Knowledge of Ansys.
• Knowledge of Weibel analysis.

Physical Requirements

• May require working in an office, industrial, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
