Description

Mission Technologies a division of HII Cyber & Engineering team is seeking an Information Technology (IT) Lead Software Systems Engineer professional in support of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Unified Cyber Situational Awareness (UCSA) program. This is a collaborative effort, providing Development and Integration of Software and Advance Analytics in support of the UCSA platform including Operations and Maintenance.  The UCSA team provides innovative design, engineering, and integration support for new and existing capabilities; promoting a more cohesive collaboration between development, security and IT operations as they work towards continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD).

 

The Lead Software Systems Engineer will work to incorporate a DevSecOps pipeline; facilitating the quick delivery and promotion of new software from development to production. They will assist with the adoption, operation and sustainment of an Agile Continuous Integration Environment (CIE) that supports rapid development and test activities and integrates with Government test environments to maximize DevSecOps opportunities.

 

They will support the development of tools, analytics, and visualization capabilities supporting the DCO warfighter, and perform analysis of data sets to determine the best approach for developing analytics and visualizations. They will also look for opportunities for machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions when applicable. They work with the team to perform software maintenance and sustainment and must be knowledgeable and experienced with many open source and proprietary products and technologies in the DCO environment.

Responsibilities

 

Under minimal direction:

 

  • Provide top-level technical expertise, including performing in-depth and complex software systems programming and analysis.
  • Design architectures to include the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces. Ensure these systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for open systems and DoD architectures.
  • Determine and identify high level functional and technical requirements based on interactions with the user community and knowledge of the enterprise architecture.
  • Identify, assess, and present options for meeting the functional and technical requirements including hardware and software updates or upgrades.
  • Formulate and define specifications for operating system applications or modify and maintain existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer.
  • Create detailed design specifications for use by software development staff members.
  • Interact with project management to plan project schedules and technical direction.
  • Develop software design documents and technology white papers.
  • Assist with selection of development tools.
  • Develop high level system design diagrams for program design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation.
  • Instruct, direct, and check the work of other task personnel.
  • Perform quality assurance review and the evaluation of existing and new software products. #LI-SG1

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

 

  • BA/BS in a technical discipline with at least 10 years of experience.
  • Advanced JavaScript (and ideally experience with at least one front-end framework like Angular or React)
  • Basic object-oriented development skills (any language should be fine)
  • Strong relational database thinking/skills
  • Strong verbal/written communication (candidate will need to interface with the customer and users)
  • A DoD 8570 IAT Level II approved certification (Security +CE)

  • Java/Spring/Maven OR Scala
  • Postgres - strong relational thinking, database skills — a good proxy
  • ElasticSearch/Kibana skills
